This dataset contains the Area Structure and Redevelopment Plans (ASP/ARPs) for the City of St. Albert. Update Frequency: Weekly.
Area Structure Plans (ASP) are legislated documents outlining the planned future development of lands within a municipality and are approved by Council. ASP's detail the proposed design of future neighbourhoods in the City; identifying future land uses and their location(s), the proposed servicing and transportation design, allocation of Municipal Reserve (10% of any lands within ASP are to be allocated to the City), areas of natural significance, etc. ASP boundaries are created relating specifically to land proposed for development. Although closely related, ASP Boundaries are NOT the same as Neighbourhood boundaries. As an area develops the original ASP boundary is then 'generalized' and exported to create the generalized neighbourhood boundary; which typically extends beyond the originally legislated ASP boundary to follow any more natural 'organic' boundaries such as the centre line of adjacent roadways.
