    Description

This dataset represents States and equivalent entities, which are the primary governmental divisions of the United States. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. In addition to the fifty States, the Census Bureau treats the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and each of the Island Areas (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) as the statistical equivalents of States for the purpose of data presentation.

    Description

Northeastern United States State Boundary data are intended for geographic display of state boundaries at statewide and regional levels. Use it to map and label states on a map. These data are derived from Northeastern United States Political Boundary Master layer. This information should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:24,000-scale data. The State of Connecticut, Department of Environmental Protection (CTDEP) assembled this regional data layer using data from other states in order to create a single, seamless representation of political boundaries within the vicinity of Connecticut that could be easily incorporated into mapping applications as background information. More accurate and up-to-date information may be available from individual State government Geographic Information System (GIS) offices. Not intended for maps printed at map scales greater or more detailed than 1:24,000 scale (1 inch = 2,000 feet.)

A custom basemap created for internal Connecticut Department of Transportation in web apps and maps. The basemap represents the most recent and active Public Road Network as maintained by the Bureau of Policy & Planning's Roadway Inventory Unit and is updated on an annual basis.Map styling mimics the format of an Open Street Maps style basemap and routes are differentiated by their prefix (e.g. Interstate, US, CT, etc.) with local roads sharing the same symbiology across the state. At closer zoom levels, ortho imagery from 2019 appears within the map extent.

    Description

1:24,000 scale Geologic map of the State Line Peak Quadrangle, in Washoe County, Nevada, Map 82. Detailed geologic mapping by T. L. T. Grose in 1984. The State Line Peak quadrangle is located in a sparsely mapped region of the western part of the Basin and Range province several miles east of the Sierra Nevada state line. Within the quadrangle are parts of four physiographic features, the eastern part of the Fort Sage Mountains, the southern margin of the Honey Lake Basin, the western part of the Virginia Mountains and the northern end of Dry Valley. Geologic map includes description of 25 geologic units. The GIS work was in support of the U.S. Geological Survey COGEOMAP program. The Geodatabase specifies feature datasets and feature classes, together with feature attributes, subtypes and domains, suitable for the printed geologic map. In addition to basic geology (lithology, contacts and faults, etc.), the maps may include metamorphic overprints, cross-sections, and explanatory legend-graphics such as correlation charts, used to supplement columnar legends. Previousely published geologic maps that encompass some of the area of the State Line Peak quadrangle include Bonham (1969) and Lydon and others (1960). Base map: U.S. Geological Survey State Line Peak 7.5-minute quadrangle, 1964.

    Description

    Abstract

This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

Dataset contains framework layers compiled for representation on state reference map, scale 1:1.5 million. Line and polygon features only. Road, rail, waterbody and watercourse themes included. State coastline not included.

    Purpose

Can be used as a framework layer for whole of state mapping or for a generalised framework for regional mapping. Not suitable for analysis.

    Dataset History

Information was compiled and digitised in generalised form from 1:250 000 scale hard copy maps. The individual CAD files were combined into seamless form and converted to Lambert Conformal Conic projection, standard parallels 29 degrees and 35 degrees S, central meridian 135 degrees E. Subsequently the information was converted to GIS format and re-projected to the state standard LCC projection.

    Description

This dataset consists of cartographic data in digital line graph (DLG) form for the northeastern states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont). Information is presented on two planimetric base categories, political boundaries and administrative boundaries, each available in two formats: the topologically structured format and a simpler format optimized for graphic display. These DGL data can be used to plot base maps and for various kinds of spatial analysis. They may also be combined with other geographically referenced data to facilitate analysis, for example the Geographic Names Information System.

    Description

This data set represents the state (political) boundaries of Mexico. The Digitial Chart of the World data set had incomplete state boundaries, which was the reason to create this coverage. It was digitized from a 1992 CIA map at a scale of 1:3 million. The coast line came from the Digital Chart of the world at a scale of 1:1 million. The state names were labeled from the map and an attribute to help fill the states was added. The labeling process was done manually.
