    Description

The budget balance in the United States was forecast to increase between 2024 and 2029 by in total 84.4 billion U.S. dollars. This overall increase does not happen continuously, notably not in 2028 and 2029. The budget balance is estimated to amount to -2,140.89 billion U.S. dollars in 2029. The indicator describes the general government net lending/borrowing which is calculated as revenue minus total expenditure. The International Monetary Fund defines the general government expenditure as consisting of total expense and the net acquisition of nonfinancial assets. The general government revenue consists of the revenue from taxes, social contributions, grants receivable, and other revenue.Find more statistics on other topics about the United States with key insights such as the number of employed people, the ratio of government expenditure to the gross domestic product, and the gross domestic product in current prices.

    Description

This data contains general government sector operating expenses, sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics historical data and the Department of Treasury and Finance, categorised by ‘government purpose classification’ (GPC) and ‘classification of the functions of government’ (COFOG).\r \r The Australian system of Government Finance Statistics (GFS) was revised by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, with the release of the Australian System of Government Finance Statistics: Concepts, Sources and Methods 2015 Cat. No. 5514.0.\r \r Implementation of the updated GFS manual has resulted in the COFOG framework replacing the former GPC framework, with effect from the 2018-19 financial year for financial reporting under AASB 1049.\r \r The underlying data from 1961-62 to 1997-98 represents a conversion from the original cash series to an accruals basis by estimating depreciation and superannuation expenses based on statistical modelling.\r \r Although the conversion provides a basis for comparison with total expenses in the current series of accrual GFS information from 1998 (in the attached table), the estimated accrued expense items have not been apportioned to individual purpose classifications.\r \r The absence of these splits between functional classifications in the attached table data therefore represents a break in the series and it is not possible to compare individual purpose categories with those in other tables.\r \r Similarly, the transition from GPC to COFOG represents an additional break in the series and comparability between the two frameworks will not be possible.\r \r The key reporting changes from GPC to COFOG are as follows:\r \r - the number of categories has reduced from 12 under GPC to 10 under COFOG; \r - the fuel and energy, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting categories have been abolished and are now part of the new economic affairs category. The majority of the outputs in other economic affairs are also included in this new category;\r - public debt transactions have moved from the other purposes category (i.e. primarily interest expense on borrowings) to general public services category;\r - a new environmental protection category was created to include functions such as waste management, water waste management, pollution and production of biodiversity and landscape, which were previously classified under housing and community amenities category, as well as national and state parks functions from the recreation and culture category; and\r - housing functions such as housing assistance and housing concessions are now part of the social protection category

The Core Based Statistical Areas boundaries were defined by OMB based on the 2010 Census, and the dataset was updated on August 09, 2019 from the United States Census Bureau (USCB) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas are together termed Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) and are defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and consist of the county or counties or equivalent entities associated with at least one urban core (urbanized area or urban cluster) of at least 10,000 population, plus adjacent counties having a high degree of social and economic integration with the core as measured through commuting ties with the counties containing the core. Categories of CBSAs are: Metropolitan Statistical Areas, based on urbanized areas of 50,000 or more population; and Micropolitan Statistical Areas, based on urban clusters of at least 10,000 population but less than 50,000 population. The CBSA boundaries are those defined by OMB based on the 2010 Census, published in 2013, and updated in 2018.

New items include 120 new tables; a new section on Accommodation, Food Services, and Other Services; new data from the 2000 Census found in many tables in the Population and Construction and Housing Sections; and results from the 2000 national elections available in the Elections section. The disc includes content not found in the book such as Adobe Acrobat PDFs providing more explanation of several major economic series in cluding the federal budget, the National Income and Product Accounts (NIPA), and the new North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Other PDFs provide information on the federal court system and social security. Links to these supplemental materials are provided from each appropriate table or from the text beginning the appropriate sections. The disc also includes new maps for reference from many different agencies including world and international maps from the Central Intelligence Agency and energy related maps from the Energy Information Administration. Other maps include maps of each state and their metro areas and component counties, congressional districts, national park sites throughout the country, U.S. transportation facilities and routes, coal mines and facilities, and the distribution of forest land." Description

This table contains figures on the budgeted costs and benefits per task field (policy area) by region and size class in millions of euros and in euros per inhabitant. The figures presented are based on data that correspond to the definitions and classifications used by the municipalities themselves in their administration. This data is supplied to Statistics Netherlands via the Information for Third Parties survey (Iv3). The regulations for this survey are laid down in the Budget and Accountability Decree for Provincial and Municipalities (BBV) and the (ministerial) Regulation on the determination of task fields and the provision of information for third parties. Data available from: 2017 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are provisional at the time of their first publication. More preliminary figures will follow in May. The figures become final when figures for the following year are added to the series. Changes as of March 20, 2023: The provisional figures for 2023 have been included. The figures for 2022 are final. With effect from the 2023 budget year, a change in the booking regulations has been introduced that mainly affects the figures for the task fields Public Health, General Facilities incl. care 18+ and Escalated care 18-. For these task fields, a comparison with previous years is therefore difficult. The following adjustments to the booking regulations have been introduced: - From 2023, costs and benefits with regard to the Centers for Youth and Family must be booked with General services incl. neighborhood teams instead of Public Health - Costs and benefits with regard to tackling domestic violence and As of 2023, Safe Home access tasks must be booked under General provisions incl. from 2023 to housing and transport services must be booked with Custom Services (WMO) instead of Custom Services 18+ - Expenses and income related to the daytime provision under the WMO must be booked with Custom Services 18+ instead of Participation from 2023. - From 2023, costs and benefits related to the walk-in function of mental health care must be booked with Custom Services 18+ instead of Escalated Care 18+. Municipalities have also had to adjust their financial administration in connection with all these adjustments. With this adjustment, various municipalities have also transferred amounts from Escalated Care 18- to other task fields, in particular Custom Services 18-. When will new numbers come out? The provisional figures for the budget year in question and the final figures for the previous budget year are published in March of the budget year. Further provisional figures for the relevant budget year will be published in May. The figures can be adjusted based on the availability of new or updated source material. In general, the adjustments are minor. The adjustments in May are mainly due to the fact that municipalities that have been reclassified do not have to send their figures on municipal budgets to Statistics Netherlands until April of the same year. For the provisional figures, an additional estimate is made for these reclassified municipalities and any other non-response. The figures supplied by the reclassified municipalities have been incorporated into the more detailed provisional figures. Finally, when analyzing the municipal budgets, it is sometimes established that the municipality made a mistake in the delivery in the previous year. This has been corrected in the final figures. Due to changes in the source data, Information for third parties (Iv3), the data from the 2017 budget are not fully comparable with the data for previous years. More information about this can be found in paragraph 3 under 'relevant tables'.
