Additionally, California ranked first on a list of U.S. states by GDP, with two trillion U.S. dollars of GDP in 2012. Silicon Valley, located in the Bay Area, is in great part responsible for the Bay Area’s and California’s high GDPs, as it is known as the center of the global technology industry.
