General Public Use Files are State-based and provide information on nurses without identifying the County and Metropolitan Area in which they live or work. County Public Use Files provide most, but not all, the same information on the nurse from the General Public Use File, and also identifies the County and Metropolitan Areas in which the nurses live or work. Diverse employment settings for nurses While the distribution of registered nurses varies widely across states, their employment settings also show interesting patterns. In 2023, hospitals remained the primary employer for registered nurses, accounting for nearly ********** of all nursing positions. Ambulatory healthcare services emerged as the second most common workplace, while educational services employed only a small fraction of the nursing workforce. This distribution highlights the critical role of nurses in various healthcare settings beyond traditional hospital environments. Specialized nursing roles across states The nursing profession encompasses various specialized roles, each with its own unique distribution across the country. For instance, nurse anesthetists showed significant variation in employment numbers, ranging from as few as ** to as many as ***** per state in 2024. Interestingly, Delaware led in nurse anesthetist employment, while Vermont and Alaska had the lowest numbers. Nurse Care Activity Recognition

Nurses’ data is compiled by the Department of Health as part of the Non-Monetary Health Care Statistics, administered jointly by Eurostat, OECD and WHO in fulfilment of the European regulation (EU) 2022/2294. These statistics are compiled and published on an annual basis and refer to the number of practicing nurses and nurses licensed to practice in the Republic of Ireland, as at end of the referenced ending calendar year.

Abstract The study had the goal of presenting the distribution of nurses in the job market with a weekly workload greater than or equal to forty hours according to the regions of Brazil and the kind of workplace (whether in the private or public sectors). It was a cross-sectional study, conducted between 10 and 27 of February 2017, with on-line data from the medical-sanitary researches conducted in 2002, 2005 and 2009 by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. We analyzed a total of 179,337 nurses in the 3 evaluated years. We compared their proportions according to each geographical region of Brazil and the workplace using Pearson’s Chi-squared test (α = 5%). Nursing was the only college-level healthcare occupation that presented a larger and increasing proportion of professionals with a weekly workload greater than or equal to 40 hours (p < 0.001), and this proportion is greater in the public sector and in the Northern, Midwestern, and Southern regions of the country. The occupation of nurse still has an unfavorable workload, which constitutes a challenge to the nurses and to nursing as a profession.

It includes the estimated supply and demand for providers in Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) for each role or role group included in the model for the years 2022-2023. These metrics can be compared by role, region, county, and year.
