In that year, about 54 percent, or 922 out of the 1,710 total barangays in the region reported and validated the presence of people using drugs or illegal drug activities. In contrast, MIMAROPA had the lowest drug affectation rate.
The majority of the arrested drug suspects in the Philippines were males, with a share of 88 percent. In total, there were about 53,000 drug suspects arrested nationwide.
In 2023, 49,700 drug personalities were arrested in the Philippines, the majority of which were pushers. In comparison, around 4,500 people arrested were classified as possessors while 2,400 were users.
