    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Kentucky by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Kentucky. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Kentucky by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Kentucky. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Kentucky.

    Key observations

Largest age group (population): Male # 20-24 years (152,586) | Female # 60-64 years (155,972). Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Age groups:

    • Under 5 years
    • 5 to 9 years
    • 10 to 14 years

    • 45 to 49 years
    • 50 to 54 years
    • 55 to 59 years
    • 60 to 64 years
    • 65 to 69 years
    • 70 to 74 years
    • 75 to 79 years
    • 80 to 84 years
    • 85 years and over

    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Age Group: This column displays the age group for the Kentucky population analysis. Total expected values are 18 and are define above in the age groups section.
    • Population (Male): The male population in the Kentucky is shown in the following column.
    • Population (Female): The female population in the Kentucky is shown in the following column.
    • Gender Ratio: Also known as the sex ratio, this column displays the number of males per 100 females in Kentucky for each age group.

    Good to know

    Margin of Error

Data in the dataset are based on the estimates and are subject to sampling variability and thus a margin of error. Neilsberg Research recommends using caution when presening these estimates in your research.

The data provided in this dataset is preliminary in nature and may have not been investigated by a detective at the time of download. The data is therefore subject to change after a complete investigation. This data represents only calls for police service where a police incident report was taken. Due to the variations in local laws and ordinances involving crimes across the nation, whether another agency utilizes Uniform Crime Report (UCR) or National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) guidelines, and the results learned after an official investigation, comparisons should not be made between the statistics generated with this dataset to any other official police reports. Totals in the database may vary considerably from official totals following the investigation and final categorization of a crime. Therefore, the data should not be used for comparisons with Uniform Crime Report or other summary statistics. Data is broken out by year into separate CSV files. Note the file grouping by year is based on the crime's Date Reported (not the Date Occurred). Older cases found in the 2003 data are indicative of cold case research. Older cases are entered into the Police database system and tracked but dates and times of the original case are maintained. About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Kentucky by gender, including both male and female populations. This dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Kentucky across both sexes and to determine which sex constitutes the majority.

    Key observations

There is a slight majority of female population, with 50.48% of total population being female. Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

No further analysis is done on the data reported from the Census Bureau.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Gender: This column displays the Gender (Male / Female)
    • Population: The population of the gender in the Kentucky is shown in this column.
    • % of Total Population: This column displays the percentage distribution of each gender as a proportion of Kentucky total population. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.

Therefore, the data should not be used for comparisons with Uniform Crime Report or other summary statistics.Data is broken out by year into separate CSV files. Note the file grouping by year is based on the crime's Date Reported (not the Date Occurred).Older cases found in the 2003 data are indicative of cold case research. Older cases are entered into the Police database system and tracked but dates and times of the original case are maintained.Data may also be viewed off-site in map form for just the last 6 months on Crimemapping.comData Dictionary:INCIDENT_NUMBER - the number associated with either the incident or used as reference to store the items in our evidence roomsDATE_REPORTED - the date the incident was reported to LMPDDATE_OCCURED - the date the incident actually occurredUOR_DESC - Uniform Offense Reporting code for the criminal act committedCRIME_TYPE - the crime type categoryNIBRS_CODE - the code that follows the guidelines of the National Incident Based Reporting System. Description

This is a vector data set consisting of lines representing streams in Kentucky. Each line segment is attributed with the 7-day 2-year low-flow frequency values, 7-day 10-year low-flow frequency values, and the mean annual streamflow values for the downstream end of that stream segment. For example, the "7-day 2-year low-flow" is the flow rate, averaged over seven days, that has a 50% chance (i.e. one out of every two years) of being exceeded in any year; the 10-year value has a 10% chance of being exceeded in any year (i.e. one out of every ten years). Low-flow values were calculated using the equations in the USGS Water-Resources Investigations Report 91-4097 "Low-Flow Characteristics of Kentucky Streams". Mean annual streamflow values were calculated using the equation in the USGS Water-Resources Investigations Report 02-4206 "Estimating Mean Annual Streamflow of Rural Streams in Kentucky". Users of the data should be aware of the limitations and accuracy of the equations as explained in those reports and summarized below (see "Constraints on accessing and using the data").

This web map allows for the download of KyFromAbove LiDAR data by 5k tile in LAZ format. This point cloud data was acquired during the typical leaf-off acquisition period (winter-spring) over a period of several years and may be provided as LAS version 1.1, 1.2, or 1.4 depending upon the acquisition period. Users will need to download the LAZIP.exe in order to decompress each tile. LiDAR data specifications adopted by the KyFromAbove Technical Advisory Committee can be found here. This is the source data used to create the Commonwealth's 5 foot digital elevation model (DEM) and its associated derivatives. More information regarding this data resource can be found on the KyGeoPortal.
