    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Virgin by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Virgin. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Virgin by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Virgin. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Virgin.

    Key observations

Largest age group (population): Male # 15-19 years (78) | Female # 15-19 years (34). Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

    Description

According to a survey conducted in 2016, the average age for unmarried South Korean women aged between 27 and 29 years to lose their virginity was 21.3 years in 2016. Around 70 percent of these respondents reported having sexual intercourse in the last year.

    Young and single

South Korean singles in their 20s do not want to get married for various reasons, the leading one being wanting to focus more on themselves. The proportion of youth who believe it is possible to live together before marriage has increased over the past years, supporting the trend of South Koreans moving away from traditional social values and roles. Women in particular have rejected the idea of marriage, largely due to gendered family roles which places an expectation on them to do a greater share of the housework and be largely responsible for childcare.

Another aspect that is potentially preventing young South Koreans from getting married is the high cost of weddings. Many see weddings as an unnecessary financial burden. Combined with less social pressure to marry, they are happy to remain unwed. Only half of South Korea’s single population in their 20s are planning on getting married in the future.

    Description

In a survey conducted between 2013 and 2015, the average age for South Korean teenage girls in the third grade of high school to lose their virginity was 15.7 years (based on the South Korean age system in which a new-born baby is considered as one-year-old). According to the same survey, around five percent of females in this age bracket had ever had sexual intercourse.

    Sexuality in South Korea

Many different factors have shaped the way sexuality is considered across the country. From traditional cultural norms generally accepted by the older generation, to the recent surge of liberalism and westernization – sexual education and sexual behavior have been highly debated topics among South Koreans and continue to be to this day.

Sexual education for teenagers in South Korea has become known for being problematic - not all teenage girls participated in sexual education programs as part of their schooling, and there has been some backlash on the quality of sexual education received by all students. Only half of sexually active teens stated that they always use contraception when having sex.

In 2019, South Korea decriminalized abortion – a move that was praised as moving towards a positive direction for women’s rights and health within the country. Decriminalizing pregnancy termination is particularly important for adolescents - around 80 percent of teenage girls who had been pregnant reported having an abortion.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the data for the Virgin, UT population pyramid, which represents the Virgin population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups. Higher numbers at the bottom of the table suggest population growth, whereas higher numbers at the top indicate declining birth rates. Furthermore, the dataset can be utilized to understand the youth dependency ratio, old-age dependency ratio, total dependency ratio, and potential support ratio.

    Key observations

    • Youth dependency ratio, which is the number of children aged 0-14 per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Virgin, UT, is 33.1.
    • Old-age dependency ratio, which is the number of persons aged 65 or over per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Virgin, UT, is 21.5.
    • Total dependency ratio for Virgin, UT is 54.5.
    • Potential support ratio, which is the number of youth (working age population) per elderly, for Virgin, UT is 4.7.

    Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2018-2022 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) male population, (b) female population and (b) total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the age groups. For age groups we divided it into roughly a 5 year bucket for ages between 0 and 85. For over 85, we aggregated data into a single group for all ages. Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the data for the Virgin, UT population pyramid, which represents the Virgin population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2018-2022 5-Year Estimates.

    • Youth dependency ratio, which is the number of children aged 0-14 per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Virgin, UT, is 31.2.
    • Old-age dependency ratio, which is the number of persons aged 65 or over per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Virgin, UT, is 30.8.
    • Total dependency ratio for Virgin, UT is 62.0.
    • Potential support ratio, which is the number of youth (working age population) per elderly, for Virgin, UT is 3.3.

    Description

In species where advancing sire age is associated with decreased progeny fitness, female resistance to mating with old partners can be expected to evolve. In polyandrous species, such resistance may be contingent on female mating experience: virgins should be relatively indiscriminate to ensure egg fertility, whereas non-virgins can be expected to base their re-mating decisions on the age of their previous versus potential new partners, and 'trade up' if previously mated with old males. Here, we tested these predictions using a promiscuous and relatively long-living bulb mite (Rhizoglyphus robini), in which old sire age is associated with decreased fecundity of daughters. In a fully factorial design, we applied two male treatments: young and old, and three female treatments: virgin, previously mated to an old male and previously mated to a young male. Consistent with earlier studies, we observed a reduced mating success of old males. However, we found no support for attributing this result to female discrimination, as female behaviour in response to male mounting attempts was not affected by the age of the suitor, or by its interaction with the age of the female's previous mate. Interestingly, females were passive during 93% of male mounting attempts observed, suggesting that once they are located by a male, they exert little control over copulation. Old males had lower mate searching activity and were less efficient in obtaining matings (lower success rate per mounting attempt), suggesting a decreased mate securing ability due to aging. Overall, our results suggest that in bulb mites, male ability to secure mates declines with age, whereas they do not support the prediction that females actively discriminate against old partners.

    Description

The Virgin and Beaverdam Mountains form an arcuate range innorthwestern Mohave County, Arizona, which extends northeasterly fromthe Nevada State line and swings to a northerly trend near the Utahboundary. The range lies on the eastern edge of the Basin-and-Rangeprovince, adjacent to the Plateau province, and has a maximumtopographic relief of nearly 6,500 feet.Rocks ranging in age from Precambrian to Tertiary are exposed inthe Virgin and Beaverdam Mountains. Precambrian rocks consist of ametamorphic and igneous complex. The Paleozoic Era is represented bymarine carbonate rocks with subordinate, fine-grained clastic material.Mesozoic and Cenozoic rocks are for the most part clastic units ofcontinental origin.Structural elements that have played a major part in the developmentof the range include a large anticlinal fold and a zone of reverse faultingthat extends for nearly 20 miles along the eastern flank of the range. Thebasic pattern established by these structures has been modified by highanglefaults of large displacement which strike substantially parallel withthe line of reverse faulting, and by transverse faults of less displacement. In the northern part of the range low-angle thrust faulting is locallyprominent. 65 p.
