Compendium of housing and planning statistics covering most aspects of housing and planning in England
Source agency: Communities and Local Government
Designation: National Statistics
Language: English
Alternative title: Housing and Planning Statistics
This 2011 Population Census dataset contains statistics relevant to demographic, household, educational, economic, housing and internal migration characteristics of the Hong Kong population residing in the 209 Small Tertiary Planning Unit Groups in 2011. The dataset also contains the boundaries of individual Small Tertiary Planning Unit Groups. Since 1961, a population census has been conducted in Hong Kong every 10 years and a by-census in the middle of the intercensal period. The 2011 Population Census, which was conducted in June to August 2011, provides benchmark statistics on the socio-economic characteristics of the Hong Kong population vital to the planning and policy formulation of the government. This dataset will be incorporated into Population Distribution Framework Spatial Data Theme.

The Planning Inspectorate have identified an error in events data. From the arrival of a new administrative system in April 2022 to the identification of the error in September 2023, the data available on which appeals have had an event and which have not, has been incorrect. This affects Table 10 in all releases in that time period. The Official Statistics presenting September 2023 data ( published in October 2023) includes revised versions of Table 10 for that time period. For information on open cases April 2022 to August 2023, please refer to the additional tables in the Excel file published 19 October 2023.

The survey dataset for identifying Shiraz old silo’s new use which includes four components: 1. The survey instrument used to collect the data “SurveyInstrument_table.pdf”. The survey instrument contains 18 main closed-ended questions in a table format. Two of these, concern information on Silo’s decision-makers and proposed new use followed up after a short introduction of the questionnaire, and others 16 (each can identify 3 variables) are related to the level of appropriate opinions for ideal intervention in Façade, Openings, Materials and Floor heights of the building in four values: Feasibility, Reversibility, Compatibility and Social Benefits. 2. The raw survey data “SurveyData.rar”. This file contains an Excel.xlsx and a SPSS.sav file. The survey data file contains 50 variables (12 for each of the four values separated by colour) and data from each of the 632 respondents. Answering each question in the survey was mandatory, therefor there are no blanks or non-responses in the dataset. In the .sav file, all variables were assigned with numeric type and nominal measurement level. More details about each variable can be found in the Variable View tab of this file. Additional variables were created by grouping or consolidating categories within each survey question for simpler analysis. These variables are listed in the last columns of the .xlsx file. 3. The analysed survey data “AnalysedData.rar”. This file contains 6 “SPSS Statistics Output Documents” which demonstrate statistical tests and analysis such as mean, correlation, automatic linear regression, reliability, frequencies, and descriptives. 4. The codebook “Codebook.rar”. The detailed SPSS “Codebook.pdf” alongside the simplified codebook as “VariableInformation_table.pdf” provides a comprehensive guide to all 50 variables in the survey data, including numerical codes for survey questions and response options. They serve as valuable resources for understanding the dataset, presenting dictionary information, and providing descriptive statistics, such as counts and percentages for categorical variables.
An August 2022 survey asked travelers worldwide about the expected use of a series of planning tools for trips in 2033. While over half of the respondents expected to rely on travel apps offering all the services needed to plan a trip, just 36 percent of the sample mentioned voice-based search engines.
A. SUMMARY This dataset provides review time metrics for the San Francisco Planning Department’s application review process. The following metrics are provided: total days to Planning approval, days to finish completeness review, days to first check plan letter, and days to complete resubmission review. Targets for each metric and outcomes relative to these targets are also included. These metrics allow for ongoing tracking for individual planning projects and for the calculation of summary statistics for Planning review timelines. There are both Project level metrics and project event level metrics in this table. You can see a dashboard which shows the City's current permit processing performance on sf.gov. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED Planning application review is tracked within Planning’s Project and Permit Tracking System (PPTS). Planners enter review period start and end dates in PPTS when review milestones are reached. Review timeline data is extracted from PPTS and review timelines and outcomes are calculated and consolidated within this dataset. The dataset is generated by a data model that pulls from multiple raw Accela sources and joins them together. C. UPDATE PROCESS This dataset is updated daily overnight. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET Use this dataset to analyze project level timelines for planning projects or to calculate summary metrics related to the planning review and approval processes. The review metric type is defined in the ‘project stage’ column. Note that multiple rounds of completeness check review and resubmission review may occur for a single Planning project. The ‘potential error’ column flags records where data entry errors are likely present. Filter out rows where a value is entered in this column before building summary statistics. E. Sample survey data [ssd]
A random sampling strategy based on geographical coordinates of private households was used to select in each household one adult (greater than or equal to 18 years old), living at least six months in the neighbourhood. To select a random sample a sampling frame was needed, i.e., a complete list of all residents at least 18 years old who lived in each unit for at least 6 months. Given the lack of this type of sampling frame, an alternative sampling frame was developed based on the geographical coordinates of private households in each urban unit, combining GIS and statistical software.
Nonclassical households (hospitals, orphanages, military, etc.) and homeless were not included in this study. The urban planning team identified the geographical coordinates corresponding to households, providing the centroid of the polygons which is supposed to represent a building or a detached house. However, the spatial visualization shows roofs which may represent a household or a set of households, for example, a building with 7 floors with 2 households per floor. In the last case, we repeated the corresponding geographical coordinate 14 times. Field workers were needed to complete this exhaustive field work in order to provide a more realistic list of households in each area. This list was exported to SPSS statistical software and a random sample was generated for each area.
