Swimming Pools. The dataset contains polygons representing planimetric pools, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). These features were originally captured in 2015 and updated in 2017 and 2019. The following planimetric layers were updated: - Airport Runway and Taxiway- Barrier Lines- Building Polygons- Bridge and Tunnel Polygons- Curb Lines- Grate Points- Horizontal and Vertical Control Points- Hydrography Lines- Obscured Area Polygons- Railroad Lines- Recreational Areas- Road, Parking, and Driveway Polygons- Sidewalk and Stair Polygons- Swimming Pools- Water Polygons
The city with the largest number of public swimming pools per 100,000 residents in the United States was Cleveland, OH in 2024. That year, the city had approximately 10.7 swimming pools per 100,000 residents.

We study catalytic Janus particles and Escherichia coli bacteria swimming in a two-dimensional colloidal crystal. The Janus particles orbit individual colloids and hop between colloids stochastically, with a hopping rate that varies inversely with fuel (hydrogen peroxide) concentration. At high fuel concentration, these orbits are stable for 100s of revolutions, and the orbital speed oscillates periodically as a result of hydrodynamic, and possibly also phoretic, interactions between the swimmer and the six neighbouring colloids. Motile E. coli bacteria behave very differently in the same colloidal crystal: their circular orbits on plain glass are rectified into long, straight runs, because the bacteria are unable to turn corners inside the crystal.

The perimeter of public and private swimming pools are captured, for both above-ground and in-ground pools. No other features can make a side for this feature. Pools do not overlap any other feature class. Pool decks and pavement around pools is not captured as a pool. Pavement around pools is captured as sidewalk. Roof-top pools are not captured.

This dataset contains raw messages received from the Time Based Flow Management (TBFM) System Wide Information System (SWIM) public data feed. This feed requires each consumer develop their own source code to store the data. TBFM is one of the large decision support tools used by the Federal Aviation Administration to meter the rate of traffic into airports and over busy airspace resources.

Estimates from phylogenetic generalized least squares regression with λ estimated by maximum likelihood (λ is a parameter that controls the influence of the phylogenetic variance-covariance matrix on the estimates). In all models in both datasets, λ was less than 0.0001, indicating that the resulting GLS regression was reduced to an OLS regression. The β are standard partial regression coefficients, P is the probability of the effect. AICc is the small sample size corrected Akaike Information Criterion. AdjR2 is the R2 adjusted for the number of parameters in the model. The predictor variables are f (body fineness ratio), f2, AR (propulsive fin aspect-ratio), and logM (body mass). The model-averaged regression coefficients are given in Fig. 5.

This dataset includes information from inspection reports of permitted swimming pools, recirculating spray pads, and hot tubs/spas in Allegheny County. In conjunction with the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), and under the framework of their SAFE Aquatic Data Standard, a selection of fields was identified to be pulled from aquatic facility inspection reports into this compiled dataset.
The fields represent information that would be collected at a typical inspection of an aquatic facility not only in Allegheny County, but in other jurisdictions across the United States. These fields include things like disinfectant level, if the water was clear during the inspection, if appropriate safety equipment was present & in good repair, etc. The ultimate hope is that if other jurisdictions establish an online open data portal with information that corresponds with the SAFE Aquatic Data Standard, data could be compared and analyzed in a standardized way across the US, something that cannot currently be accomplished in an efficient manner due to the lack of a standardized data collection system. Allegheny County is one of only a handful of other jurisdictions that was selected by NEHA to be the pioneers of this new SAFE aquatic data standard.
