Alphabet Inc. is an American multinational technology conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mountain View, California. Alphabet is the world's second-largest technology company by revenue, after Apple, and one of the world's most valuable companies. It was created through a restructuring of Google on October 2, 2015, and became the parent holding company of Google and several former Google subsidiaries. It is considered one of the Big Five American information technology companies, alongside Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.
The establishment of Alphabet Inc. was prompted by a desire to make the core Google business "cleaner and more accountable" while allowing greater autonomy to group companies that operate in businesses other than Internet services. Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin announced their resignation from their executive posts in December 2019, with the CEO role to be filled by Sundar Pichai, who is also the CEO of Google. Page and Brin remain employees, board members, and controlling shareholders of Alphabet Inc.

TwitterApril 9, 2025, saw the largest one-day gain in the history of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), follwing Trump's announcement of 90-day delay in the introduction of tariffs imposed on imports from all countries. The second-largest one-day gain occurred on March 24, 2020, with the index increasing ******** points. This occurred approximately two weeks after the largest one-day point loss occurred on March 9, 2020, which was triggered by the growing panic about the coronavirus outbreak worldwide. Index fluctuations The DJIA is an index of ** large companies traded on the New York Stock Exchange. It is one of the numbers that financial analysts watch closely, using it as a bellwether for the United States economy. Seeing when these large gains occur, as well as the largest one-day point losses, gives insight to why these fluctuations may occur. The gains in 2009 are likely adjustments after major losses during the Financial Crisis, but those in 2018 are probably signs of high market volatility. Other leading financial indicators While the DJIA is closely watched, it only gives insight on the performance of thirty leading U.S. companies. An index like the S&P 500, tracking *** companies, can give a more comprehensive overview of the United States economy. Even so, this only reflects investment. Other parts of the economy, such as consumer spending or unemployment rate are not well reflected in stock market indices.

TwitterAs the coronavirus spreads around the world, the impact on the Polish stock exchange is increasing. As of 4 March, the WIG20 index was at the level of 1,860.95 points. Since then, the index has been systematically decreasing, and it reached the level of 1,305.73 points on 12 March. The reason for the falls on the stock exchange is a coronavirus (COVID-19). Fear of the epidemic has been visible in the markets for three weeks. As of 27 March, WIG20 has lost over 31 percent since the beginning of the year. Most probably, the first quarter of 2020 will be the worst in the history of the index. Even worse than the end of the memorable 2008, when the financial crisis broke out. On June 29, WIG20 index reached the closing value of 1,769.47, which is a decrease of 17.70 percent compared to the beginning of 2020.
