    Description

Right-of-way (ROW) permits help us plan and coordinate safe and effective use of our shared public roads, sidewalks, alley ways, and other thoroughfares. The term "public right-of-way" is used to describe land controlled by public agencies and includes streets, alleys, public sidewalks, curbs, and the area between the curb and sidewalk (the berm or green area), as well as the spaces above and below these ROW features. The vertically adjacent spaces are required for many uses of a right-of-way, including, for example to ensure overhead clearance for vehicles, and space for utility lines and other infrastructure objects. Work within the city's Right of Way is managed by the City Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works (DPW). In accordance with Detroit Code Section 43, Division 2, it is necessary to obtain a permit from the City Engineering Division, DPW prior to construction and other activities that will affect a street, alley, sidewalk, or berm/green area. This includes: + Construction that involves altering or blocking a ROW, including Installing utilities like water mains, gas lines, telecommunications lines, installing water or sewer taps, replacing sidewalks, driveway approach, and so on. + Occupying a ROW such that a temporary sidewalks, lane, or street closure is required, including for having a crane or other construction equipment in a ROW, filming, special events, dumpsters, and so on. + Oversized or Overweight Loads.Learn more at DPW Right of Way Permits and Standards..

Road Closure Datahttps://gis.charleston-sc.gov/road-closures-regional/The city began capturing road closure data in October 2015 while responding to the 1000 year flood event. Since then, the City has been refining the process to capture and retain a history of city street closures. Emergency closures are reported based on field reports from first responders and city staff operating in the field. This data is used for situation awareness during flooding events by staff and the public This is not a detailed and complete survey of inundated roads. Not all flooding events are actively mapped and not all streets impacted are captured. This information should be used as a general information tool. Description

Increasing levels of human activity threaten wildlife populations through direct mortality, habitat degradation, and habitat fragmentation. Area closures can improve habitat quality for wildlife, but may be difficult to achieve where tourism or other economic drivers are a priority. Temporal closures that limit human use during specific times of day have potential to increase habitat quality for wildlife, while continuing to provide opportunities for human use. However, the effectiveness of daily temporal closures has not been tested. We assessed how implementation of a temporal road closure affected wildlife movements in Banff National Park. Parks Canada closed a popular 17 km stretch of road between 2000 and 0800 hours to improve habitat quality for wildlife. We assessed the effectiveness of the closure on nine mammal species using three sets of data: remote cameras, road surveys, and grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) GPS data. In all three analyses, wildlife detection rates on the road doubled during the closure while remaining unchanged in reference areas. Our strong and consistent results suggest temporal closures are an important conservation tool that can increase habitat quality for wildlife while minimizing effects on people.

    Description

LoD3 (Level of Detail 3) Road Space Models is CityGML dataset which contains road space models (over 50 building models) in the area of Ingolstadt.

There are several approaches to model Building in CityGML 2.0 (e.g. see Biljecki et al.). In our case, due to the acquisition geometry of MLS point clouds, the building objects consist of a very detailed representation of facade elements but on the other hand, it might lack roof elements and entities located in the Building's backyard. Thus, we encourage to see the list below for a detailed description of the Building in our Ingolstadt LoD3 dataset:

    The building consists of:

    • Ground Surfaces
    • Roof Surfaces
    • Wall Surfaces
    • Outer Ceiling Surfaces
    • Outer Floor Surfaces
    • Closure Surfaces
    • Windows modeled in detail
    • Doors modeled in detail
    • Building Installations (Balconies, Passages, Arcades, Loggias, Stairs and Porches, (Some) Dormers)
    • Textures (approximated based on visual inspection)

    Building does NOT consist of:

    • Overhanging Building Elements
    • Roof structure details
    • Objects located in the Building's backyard (not facing the street)
    • Building Installations (Chimneys, Rain Gutters, (Some) Dormers, Real (e.g. orthophoto) textures)

    The terminology according to SIG3D.

To ensure the highest accuracy geometrically as well as semantically, the dataset was manually modeled based on the mobile laser scannings (MLS) provided by the company 3D Mapping Solutions GmbH (relative accuracy in the range of 1-3cm). Moreover, a complementary OpenDRIVE dataset is available, which includes the road network, traffic lights, fences, vegetation and so on:

    • CityGML & SketchUp
      • Download via the releases section
      • Please note, that the 'Download ZIP' button doesn't include the project files due to Git LFS
    • OpenDRIVE
      • Download via the website of 3D Mapping Solutions (initial registration required)
      • Relevant OpenDRIVE dataset is named *Ingolstadt Innercity Halls* and can be found in the demo data area
      • Conversion to CityGML can be carried out using the tool r:trån

North America LED on Highway Dynamic Message Signs Market Drivers

Increasing Traffic Congestion: Growing urbanization and population density in many North American metropolitan areas are leading to increased traffic congestion on highways. DMS are crucial tools for managing this congestion by providing real-time information and guidance to drivers. Focus on Road Safety: Reducing accidents and improving overall road safety is a top priority for transportation authorities. DMS play a vital role by displaying warnings about incidents, adverse weather conditions, road closures, and speed limits, allowing drivers to make informed decisions. Advancements in LED Technology: Continuous improvements in LED technology are leading to brighter, more energy-efficient, and longer-lasting DMS. This enhances visibility, reduces operating costs, and extends the lifespan of the signs. Integration with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS): DMS are a key component of comprehensive ITS deployments. Their ability to communicate with traffic management centers and other ITS devices allows for coordinated traffic flow optimization and incident management.
