    Description

    This schedule includes the time and date for street sweeping by block. The City’s goal is to sweep residential streets at least once per month and commercial streets at least once per week. Street sweeping removes debris from gutters that may contribute to flooding and also prevents debris from entering the storm water system and then the ocean. Also included in this dataset is whether the street sweeping schedule has signage restricting parking. Some blocks have posted signs restricting parking during the time and day the street will be swept, and parking citations will be issued during these times. Other routes have no signs restricting parking, but residents are asked to voluntarily move their cars for sweeping.

    This is a legacy dataset which contains detailed information on the timing and location of street sweeping service throughout the City. Daily street cleaning takes place April 1 to November 30 in most Boston neighborhoods (weather permitting), and over 400 curb miles of streets are maintained under the Daytime Street Sweeping Program.

    Residential streets are swept six times a year, while major streets are swept once a month. This schedule allows for the regular sweeping of many of the City's prized bicycle facilities, located both on residential and major streets. Austin Resource Recovery cannot sweep streets without curbs, but litter is periodically picked up by hand from these streets. The street sweeping system is designed to clean the gutters and prevent automotive fluids and other contaminants from polluting Austin's creeks and waterways. Clean streets provide a healthy, safe and attractive environment for all users of the roadway. City street sweeping crews remove more than 6,200 tons of trash and debris from roadways each year; that's the equivalent of 4,150 average-sized cars!

Description

This schedule includes the time and date for street sweeping by block. The City’s goal is to sweep residential streets at least once per month and commercial streets at least once per week. Street sweeping removes debris from gutters that may contribute to flooding and also prevents debris from entering the storm water system and then the ocean. Also included in this dataset is whether the street sweeping schedule has signage restricting parking. Some blocks have posted signs restricting parking during the time and day the street will be swept, and parking citations will be issued during these times. Other routes have no signs restricting parking, but residents are asked to voluntarily move their cars for sweeping.
