    Description

LIST Named Feature Extents depicts the spatial extent of a Named Geographic Feature, or other feature or place which is cannot be represented in any of the other LIST spatial data sets, in terms of a bounding polygon. This dataset has been developed primarily for internal use within Land Tasmania for recording and identification purposes for selected feature names. The data has been attributed with the Nomenclature Register Number (NOM_REG_NO), which is the Unique ID for the Feature Name which is held within the Placenames Tasmania (Nomenclature) database, and the feature name for those features which are designated for publication. Note that the Named Feature Extent dataset will also hold polygons for archived features which are not for publication. In these cases the NOM_REG_NO attribute will appear, however the feature name will be suppressed. Named Geographical features relating to relief and other natural features as well as places and some road features, that cannot be linked to a point, line or polygon in another LIST data set will be represent here. This includes Mountains, Bays, Estuaries, Valleys, Bends, Towns any many cultural features etc. Cultural features such as named buildings or infrastructure and city, suburb, town and locality names are also included with a location representing the label point of the feature for mapping purposes. The data set is held as polygons, and there will be overlaps between many of these features. Named places over and adjoining Macquarie Island are excluded from this dataset.

AccuracyThe dataset maintains a positional relationship to, and alignment with, the Lot and Property digital datasets. This dataset was captured by digitising the best available cadastral mapping at a variety of scales and accuracies, ranging from 1:500 to 1:250 000 according to the National Mapping Council of Australia, Standards of Map Accuracy (1975). Therefore, the position of the feature instance will be within 0.5mm at map scale for 90% of the well-defined points. That is, 1:500 = 0.25m, 1:2000 = 1m, 1:4000 = 2m, 1:25000 = 12.5m, 1:50000 = 25m and 1:100000 = 50m. A program to upgrade the spatial location and accuracy of data is ongoing

    Description

The dataset shows list of suburbs/localities and the LGA's they fall within. percentage attribute indicates the percentage by area of the locality within each LGA. Where locality and LGA boundaries do not meet exactly, very small percentages may result.
It is important to note that LGAs and suburbs are not coincident. Suburbs can, and often do, extend beyond LGA boundaries. They are determined using two separate processes. LGAs are assigned under the Local Government Act 1993 and have been proclaimed using either metes and bounds descriptions or registration of public plans in the Registry of Public Surveys. Suburbs and Localities are assigned by the GNB under the provisions of the Geographical Names Act.
In these cases care should be taken when relying solely on the list and visual confirmation is recommended.

    Description

Please note: this dataset is now deprecated and replaced by NZ Suburbs and Localities in June 2023. This layer will be removed in one month.

The NZ Suburbs and Localities (Pilot) dataset describes the spatial extent and name of communities in urban areas (suburbs) and rural areas (localities) to help locate people and properties. It is based on the NZ Localities dataset which is maintained by Fire and Emergency NZ.

At this stage, NZ Localities continues to be maintained by Fire and Emergency NZ and published on the LINZ Data Service. Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) will establish a new dataset to replace NZ Localities in 2023. NZ Localities will continue to be available for a period of six months to allow for the transition to NZ Suburbs and Localities. Updates to both datasets will be limited to priority changes required by the Fire and Emergency Communications Centre during this transition.

While creating NZ Suburbs and Localities (Pilot), LINZ has taken the opportunity to restructure the data based on customer feedback. Our intention is to make the suburbs and localities data easier to understand and use.

The key changes introduced in NZ Suburbs and Localities (Pilot) are:

All suburb and locality names are now held in a single field, to replace the 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st order names New Zealand Geographic Board official place names have been adopted, including macrons. Additional name field, to hold alternative common or in-use names Each name field has a corresponding ascii field to provide the names without macrons or other special characters Territorial Authority has been added Small lakes and tarns have been removed A simple version of the data has been created to removed the related tables. A complex version of the data has three related tables to provide a one to many relationship for Territorial Authority, Additional Names and Adjacent Names. The complex version will be published once the data structure for the pilot has been confirmed Please refer to the "https://data.linz.govt.nz/document/24345-nz-suburbs-and-localities-migration-guidance/">NZ Localities Data Migration Guidance for more information.

    Description

2020 Neighborhood Tabulation Areas (NTAs) are medium-sized statistical geographies for reporting Decennial Census and American Community Survey (ACS). 2020 NTAs are created by aggregating 2020 census tracts and nest within Community District Tabulation Areas (CDTA). NTAs were delineated with the need for both geographic specificity and statistical reliability in mind. Consequently, each NTA contains enough population to mitigate sampling error associated with the ACS yet offers a unit of analysis that is smaller than a Community District. Though NTA boundaries and their associated names roughly correspond with many neighborhoods commonly recognized by New Yorkers, NTAs are not intended to definitively represent neighborhoods, nor are they intended to be exhaustive of all possible names and understandings of neighborhoods throughout New York City. Additionally, non-residential areas including large parks, airports, cemeteries, and other special areas are represented separately within this dataset and are assigned codes according to their type (See NTAType field). All previously released versions of this data are available at BYTES of the BIG APPLE- Archive.

    Description

    A. SUMMARY The Department of Public Health and the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, with support from the Planning Department, created these 41 neighborhoods by grouping 2010 Census tracts, using common real estate and residents’ definitions for the purpose of providing consistency in the analysis and reporting of socio-economic, demographic, and environmental data, and data on City-funded programs and services. These neighborhoods are not codified in Planning Code nor Administrative Code, although this map is referenced in Planning Code Section 415 as the “American Community Survey Neighborhood Profile Boundaries Map. Note: These are NOT statistical boundaries as they are not controlled for population size. This is also NOT an official map of neighborhood boundaries in SF but an aggregation of Census tracts and should be used in conjunction with other spatial boundaries for decision making. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED This dataset is produced by assigning Census tracts to neighborhoods based on existing neighborhood definitions used by Planning and MOHCD. A qualitative assessment is made to identify the appropriate neighborhood for a given tract based on understanding of population distribution and significant landmarks. Once all tracts have been assigned a neighborhood, the tracts are dissolved to produce this dataset, Analysis Neighborhoods. C. UPDATE PROCESS This dataset is static. Changes to the analysis neighborhood boundaries will be evaluated as needed by the Analysis Neighborhood working group led by DataSF and the Planning department and includes staff from various other city departments. Contact us for any questions. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET Downloading this dataset and opening it in Excel may cause some of the data values to be lost or not display properly (particularly the Analysis Neighborhood column). For a simple list of Analysis Neighborhoods without geographic coordinates, click here: https://data.sfgov.org/resource/xfcw-9evu.csv?$select=nhood E. Description

Suburb dataset represents the gazetted boundary of a suburb or locality area. The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is responsible for new suburb names and amendments to the extent of a suburb boundary. The dataset also contains post codes that are held against each suburb, sourced and matched from Australia Post. It is a polygon feature class within the NSW Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB).
