Voting District Project of the Census Redistricting Data Program commenced in Summer of 2017 to establish the state’s Voting precincts within the bureau’s tiger geography. The initial phase used the Bureau’s GUPS plugin for QGIS to update the districts from the 2010 round, and then a secondary verification phase took place to ensure the updated voting districts were properly enacted into Tiger geographic files. A post census effort took place in December 2021 to cut the number of precincts down countywide to 1430. Election Data Services conducted Phase 2 of the Census Redistricting Data Program for the State of Illinois, as well as implemented changes made post census in Cook County.
Precincts are updated as needed before every election by the Cook County Clerk's Elections Department.

Public web app is for viewing the web map and the survey that is used for submitting ground truth data. Log in and access the data submission version of the Productive Landscapes web app to submit ground truth information. The Productive Landscapes Map is a tool that is being developed to help identify and prioritize underutilized land in Cook County that may be appropriate for agriculture coupled with other beneficial uses. The goal of this work is to expand secure access to urban and peri-urban farmland using the community-based framework outlined in the report “Productive Landscapes in Chicago and the Southland.” The report, published by the Chicago Food Policy Action Council (CFPAC) in 2017, was informed by a series of facilitated conversations concerning how various stakeholders could help foster the growth of urban agriculture in the Millennium Reserve Area, covering Chicago’s South Side and suburban municipalities in southern Cook County. Over the course of six months, between 2016-2017, representatives of 27 organizations participated in these conversations. These organizations included farms, non-profits, universities, land trusts, community organizations, funders, and federal, state, regional, county and municipal governments. The community-based framework, proposed in the report, is grounded in a set of values—equity, sustainability, and collaboration. The framework aims to foster the growth of the regional economic cluster of urban agriculture and food systems in the greater Chicago area, which has been emerging over the past 20+ years. This work is generously advised by the Productive Landscapes Task Force, which was first convened in the Spring of 2019. The Productive Landscapes Task Force is co-chaired by Cook County Commissioner, Dennis Deer and MWRD Commissioner, Josina Morita. The Task Force is convened and co-facilitated by NeighborSpace and CFPAC.
