Sumter County Interactive Map Application

This resource is a member of a series. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The All Roads Shapefile includes all features within the MTDB Super Class "Road/Path Features" distinguished where the MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) for the feature in MTDB that begins with "S". This includes all primary, secondary, local neighborhood, and rural roads, city streets, vehicular trails (4wd), ramps, service drives, alleys, parking lot roads, private roads for service vehicles (logging, oil fields, ranches, etc.), bike paths or trails, bridle/horse paths, walkways/pedestrian trails, and stairways.

This layer shows the fire hydrants of the county and who maintains them. Hydrants are now scheduled to be updated on an annual basis and contracted through R & M Service Solutions. Data updated as of 04/18/2018.

The GIS shapefile and summary tables provide irrigated agricultural land-use for Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter Counties, Florida through a cooperative project between the U.S Geological Survey (USGS) and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), Office of Agricultural Water Policy. Information provided in the shapefile includes the location of irrigated land field verified for 2019, crop type, irrigation system type, and primary water source used in Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter Counties, Florida. A map image of the shapefile is provided in the attachment.

The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. Road centerlines are developed from different sources: such as autocad files, plat maps, and aerials used as a reference for road location.

Mosquito Spray Zones. Includes Adulticiding (night spraying), Larvaciding (treating aquatic breeding sites) and surveillance of mosquitoes by way of light trap locations and location of aquatic breeding sites. All in an effort to reduce the number of pestiferous and disease carrying mosquitoes through out Sumter County.

FLORIDA CONSERVATION LANDS (layer name FLMA): This is a polygon data layer for public (and some private) lands that the Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) has identified as having natural resource value and that are being managed at least partially for conservation purposes. The term "Managed Area" refers to a managed conservation land. Data was last updated March 2018; updated information may be available from the Southwest Florida Water Management District's data portal.

No line work was adjusted between county boundaries, prior to the creation of the centroids.. The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.The centroids were derived from the parcel polygons. Using ArcPRO, the repair geometry tool was used, followed by the feature to point tool. All centroids were created within the polygon's boundary even if the center of the irregular polygon was outside its boundary. Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August.
