    Description

    Government Land Office maps (GLOs) are a result of the effort to survey all United States public lands before settlement. Starting in 1812 land was divided into square six mile blocks called townships, then subdivided into sections and ranges. Each subdivided area was surveyed and given its own map or GLO. During this process surveyors were required to indicate cultural resources such as roads and Indian trails and standardized symbols were used to represent geographic features. These GLOs are now maintained by the Bureau of Land Management as part of the official Land Status and Cadastral Survey records. As land was divided into parcels of individual ownership additional cadastral survey maps were created over time. For this reason there are often multiple GLOs or "cadastral survey maps" for one township / range, generally numbered one through four. For this seamless GLO layer, DAHP focused solely on the more historical GLOs which were usually listed as image number one or two for that specific township / range in the BLM Cadastral Survey records. In some cases no GLOs were available for review. Such areas included National Forest Lands, National Parks, Indian Reservations, and remote wilderness areas.

    Description

    Data set for providing cadastral maps in digital form in DXF format. The data comes from the ISKN database (Cadastre Information System). The cadastral map includes a semi-final and descriptive folder. The location contains the boundaries of plots, cadastral areas and administrative units, building perimeters and point fields. The descriptive elements include text inscriptions (par-customs numbers, geographical nomenclature, etc.), map marks (marks of land types, etc.) and lines (borders of protected areas, etc.). When converting data into DXF format, some digital map data (information about point number and position point quality code, symbols on lines, etc.) are lost. The data set is provided as open data (CC-BY 4.0 license). The data is based on ISKN (Cadastre Information System). The cadastral map is provided along the cadastral territories in the JTSK coordinate system (EPSG:5514). There are only areas with a cadastral map in digital form (to 10. 01. 2022 is 97.82 % of the territory of the Czech Republic, i.e. 77 150.84 km²). Data is provided in DXF format. Data is compressed for download (ZIP). More cadastral Act 256/2013 Coll., Decree on the Land Registry No 357/2013 Coll., Decree on the Provision of Data No. 358/2013 Coll., as amended.

    The Digital Geologic Map of the U.S. Geological Survey Mapping in the Western Portion of Amistad National Recreation Area, Texas is composed of GIS data layers complete with ArcMap 9.3 layer (.LYR) files, two ancillary GIS tables, a Map PDF document with ancillary map text, figures and tables, a FGDC metadata record and a 9.3 ArcMap (.MXD) Document that displays the digital map in 9.3 ArcGIS. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRI digital dataset were provided by the following: Eddie Collins, Amanda Masterson and Tom Tremblay (Texas Bureau of Economic Geology); Rick Page (U.S. Geological Survey); Gilbert Anaya (International Boundary and Water Commission). Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRI product are listed in the Source Citation sections(s) of this metadata record (wpam_metadata.txt; available at http://nrdata.nps.gov/amis/nrdata/geology/gis/wpam_metadata.xml). All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRI Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.1. (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data is available as a 9.3 personal geodatabase (wpam_geology.mdb), and as shapefile (.SHP) and DBASEIV (.DBF) table files. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 14N.     Description

    The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) collaborated on the creation of the global land datasets using Landsat data from 1972 through 2008. NASA and the USGS have again partnered to develop the Global Land Survey 2010 (GLS2010), a new global land data set with core acquisition dates of 2008-2011. This dataset consists of both Landsat TM and ETM+ images that meet quality and cloud cover standards established by the earlier GLS collections. Data acquired in 2011 were used to fill areas of low image quality or excessive cloud cover.

    This Quarter Section feature class depicts PLSS Second Divisions . PLSS townships are subdivided in a spatial hierarchy of first, second, and third division. These divisions are typically aliquot parts ranging in size from 640 acres to 160 to 40 acres, and subsequently all the way down to 2.5 acres. The data in this feature class was translated from the PLSSSecondDiv feature class in the original production data model, which defined the second division for a specific parcel of land.     Description

    This coverage contains the section lines for the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). These lines form polygons which are labelled for PLSS township, range and section number. Coordinates were digitized from U. S. Geological Survey 7.5' topographic maps (paper copies) using a digitizing program developed in-house by the Geological Survey Bureau, Iowa DNR. The digitizing tablet accuracy was 1/50 inch. Section lines from individual quads were combined and edited using PC Arc/Info.

    This map compares the number of people living above the poverty line to the number of people living below. Why do this?There are people living below the poverty line everywhere. Nearly every area of the country has a balance of people living above the poverty line and people living below it. There is not an "ideal" balance, so this map makes good use of the national ratio of 6 persons living above the poverty line for every 1 person living below it. Please consider that there is constant movement of people above and below the poverty threshold, as they gain better employment or lose a job; as they encounter a new family situation, natural disaster, health issue, major accident or other crisis. There are areas that suffer chronic poverty year after year. This map does not indicate how long people in the area have been below the poverty line. "The poverty rate is one of several socioeconomic indicators used by policy makers to evaluate economic conditions. It measures the percentage of people whose income fell below the poverty threshold. Federal and state governments use such estimates to allocate funds to local communities. Local communities use these estimates to identify the number of individuals or families eligible for various programs."     This map contains a number of world-wide dynamic image services providing access to various Landsat scenes covering the landmass of the World for visual interpretation. Landsat 8 collects new scenes for each location on Earth every 16 days, assuming limited cloud coverage. Newest and near cloud-free scenes are displayed by default on top. Most scenes collected since 1st January 2015 are included. The service also includes scenes from the Global Land Survey* (circa 2010, 2005, 2000, 1990, 1975).The service contains a range of different predefined renderers for Multispectral, Panchromatic as well as Pansharpened scenes. The layers in the service can be time-enabled so that the applications can restrict the displayed scenes to a specific date range. This ArcGIS Server dynamic service can be used in Web Maps and ArcGIS Desktop, Web and Mobile applications using the REST based image services API.     Description

    This series comprises hydrographic survey maps of Victoria’s coastline, bays, and inland waterways. The maps primarily document soundings of the sea floor and recording the depth at various locations. These are recorded as rows of numbers across the map, usually in uniform lines. The series also contains a small number of plans depicting port infrastructure and equipment, and a small number of index plans.

    The maps were created first by various iterations of the Ports and Harbours Division, beginning with the division within the Department of Trade and Customs, then the Public Works Department, and finally the Department of Transport. The division moved between departments as its marine survey functions were transferred. In 1986 the function moved to the Port of Melbourne Authority, which continued the series.

    The maps depict waterways throughout Victoria, but most commonly Westernport Bay, Port Phillip Heads, Swan Bay, the West and South Channels in Port Phillip Bay, Corner Inlet, Corio Bay, Port Fairy, and Queenscliff. Dredging locations and dredging spoil dumps are also commonly represented in the series.

    Within the series there are sequences of soundings of the same area taken regularly over months or years, documenting any change in sea depths. Some maps later in the series, from the 1980s and 1990s, depict cross sections of the water and sea floor. Many of the maps also depict locations of marine infrastructure such as lighthouses and buoys. Some of the records are index plans, which show an area and indicate the plan numbers for the plans covering that particular area at the time of creation.

    Maps in this series can be identified by location, which is described in the title of each map, as well as the map number. The title descriptions were taken directly from information on the maps where that was sufficient; where this was not the case, titles have been taken from the accompanying card index series VPRS 18879. The dates listed for each map often indicate the date the survey began as the start date, to the date the survey map was checked and signed off, although this is not uniform. Some maps contain a date although no indication of what the date represents, and others contain no date at all. Later maps, with plan numbers in the 3000 and 4000 range, have much more uniform identifying information and the date for the map generally reflects the date/s the survey was conducted.

    The maps have generally been listed in sequential order by map number. However, as the maps were stored in several different locations each group of maps from each location has been listed sequentially, so some may appear out of order. A significant quantity of early maps are missing as of 2022.

    Before coming into PROV custody, this series was held for a number of years at the Queenscliff Maritime Museum.

    Description

    Georeferenced (to WGS1984) and cropped set of about 820 historic maps of Burma at a scale of 1 inch per mile (63,360) covering about 75% of the country. Those topographic maps, originally produced and published by the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India between 1899 and 1946, have been scanned and shared with the public as part of the "Old Survey Of India Maps” Community under a CC BY 4.0 International Licence. Many of these maps are reprints of earlier maps produced before the war. Most mapsheets are early editions (edition 1 or edition 2).

    Each of the 820 map sheet scans was georeferenced using the Latitude-Longitude corner coordinates in Everest 1830 projection. Those map sheets were cropped, keeping only the map area - to allow a seamless mosaic without the mapframe overlapping adjacent map sheets when several map sheets are put together in a GIS. Those cropped map sheets were projected from Everest 1830 to WGS1984 (EPSG4326) - standard GPS - projection to make them easier to use and combine with other GIS data.

    Those map sheets can be loaded directly in any GIS such as QGIS or ESRI ArcGIS as well as Google Earth.

    • The mm_OI_JBv2024 folder contains the cropped end georeferenced map sheets in jpg-format as well as accompagning georeference and metadata incl.
      • The mm_OI_JBv2024_kmlLinks contains kml files to easily load the mapsheets into Google Earth
      • The mm_historicOI_EPSG4326.gdb contains an ESRI mosaic dataset to easily load all mapsheets into ArcGIS
    • The mm_OI_JBv2024_scanMaps folder contains the uncropped original map scans (renamed though) in jpg-format.
    • The mm_topoOI_JBv7_masterlist.xlsx is a masterlist cataloguing all map sheets for easier use and matching them with the original source files as shared as part of the "Old Survey Of India Maps" (e.g. to identify new mapsheets should new maps be released)
    • The indexMaps folder contains small scale index maps to locate the map sheets using their map sheet Grid-Letter-nomenclature

    All georeferenced map scans are based on maps shared by John Brown via Zenodo

    The file naming convention is to first give the number of the 4 degree x 4 degree block followed by the letter (A to P) of the sixteen 1 degree x 1 degree blocks in each 4 degree block eg. 38 D, and this is followed by a number from 1 to 16 to indicate the number of the map in the 1 degree block.

    This Number Letter Number designation is followed by the map series type either OI (contains a LCC grid) or OILatLon (only has a Lat-Lon grid), followed by the edition and year of the edition, followed by the date of publication/print. If the information is not available an "X" (for edition) or "0000" (for an unknown year) is used. A best-guess approach was used if the edition and print year and version information was ambiguous.

    The files as shared via the "Old Survey Of India Maps" have been renamed to standardize the file naming, sometimes correcting them and to make them unique in the case several editions of the same map sheet were available.

    A topographical index produced by the Survey of India is provided to assist the viewer in selecting a particular map of interest.

    Description

    Information for this layer of the map based index (GeoIndex) is taken from the BGS National Landslide Database (NLD), which holds over 15000 records of landslides and is the definitive source of landslide information for Great Britain (excludes Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands). Each landslide within the National Landslide Database is identified by a National Landslide Database ID number and a point location, as shown on this map. The National Landslide Database ID number represents an individual survey of a landslide, rather than just the landslide itself. This is because there could be several phases of movement within or extensions to the same landslide, particularly if it is a large and complex one. Subsequent surveys of the same landslide may be recorded in the database with the same National Landslide Database ID number but with a new Survey Number. Other information given for each record include; Landslide name, grid reference and whether the landslide record has been validated by the BGS Landslides Team. The point symbols at the designated location do not reflect the size and shape of the corresponding landslide, but just denote the recorded presence of a landslide within a range of accuracy.

    Description

    Dataset for providing complete cadastral map content in digital form. The cadastral map includes a semi-descriptive and descriptive component. The position paper contains the boundaries of parcels, cadastral areas and administrative units, districts of buildings and points fields. Additional information (point number and quality code) is provided in the dates for the semi-finding points. Descriptive elements include text inscriptions (parcel numbers, geographical nomenclature, etc.), map marks (marks of land types, etc.) and lines (limits of protected areas, etc.). The data set is provided as open data (CC-BY 4.0 license). The data is based on the ISKN (The Land Register Information System). The cadastral map is provided in cadastral areas in the JTSK coordinate system (EPSG:5514). Only territories with cadastral map in digital form are available (to 02. 01. 2023 is 98.35 % of the territory of the Czech Republic, i.e. 77 565.36 km²). Data are provided in text format VFK (Czech National Standard). For downloading the data is compressed (ZIP). The description of the format is published on the website of the Czech Office of Surveying and Cadastral.     This map is currently under development.The Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS) is a comprehensive travel survey conducted in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area (GGHA) once every five years. Participants in the design and implementation of the survey include Cities of Toronto and Hamilton, the Regional Municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel and York, GO Transit, the Toronto Transit Commission and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.The survey collects information about households, demographics, and trips in an extremely detailed manner. In order to provide some summary data to the public, the University of Toronto's Data Management Group provides ward-level (Greater Toronto Hamilton Area only) and planning-district level counts (entire GGHA) for over 400 different categories. The list of downloadable open data tables can be found on the group's website.     This parcels polygons feature class represents current city parcels within the City of Los Angeles. It shares topology with the Landbase parcel lines feature class. The Mapping and Land Records Division of the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works provides the most current geographic information of the public right of way, ownership and land record information. The legal boundaries are determined on the ground by license surveyors in the State of California, and by recorded documents from the Los Angeles County Recorder's office and the City Clerk's office of the City of Los Angeles. Parcel and ownership information are available on NavigateLA, a website hosted by the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works.Associated information about the landbase parcels is entered into attributes. Principal attributes include:PIN and PIND: represents the unique auto-generated parcel identifier and key to related features and tables. This field is related to the LA_LEGAL, LA_APN and LA_HSE_NBR tables. PIN contains spaces and PIND replaces those spaces with a dash (-).LA_LEGAL - Table attributes containing legal description. The landbase parcels layer is vital to other City of LA Departments, by supporting property and land record operations and identifying legal information for City of Los Angeles. The landbase parcels polygons are inherited from a database originally created by the City's Survey and Mapping Division. Parcel information should only be added to the Landbase Parcels layer if documentation exists, such as a Deed or a Plan approved by the City Council. When seeking the definitive description of real property, consult the recorded Deed or Plan.List of Fields:ID: A unique numeric identifier of the polygon. The ID value is the last part of the PIN field value.ASSETID: User-defined feature autonumber.MAPSHEET: The alpha-numeric mapsheet number, which refers to a valid B-map or A-map number on the Cadastral grid index map. Values: • B, A, -5A - Any of these alpha-numeric combinations are used, whereas the underlined spaces are the numbers. An A-map is the smallest grid in the index map and is used when there is a large amount of spatial information in the map display. In areas where parcel lines and annotation can fit comfortably in an index map, a B-map is used. Description

Government Land Office maps (GLOs) are a result of the effort to survey all United States public lands before settlement. Starting in 1812 land was divided into square six mile blocks called townships, then subdivided into sections and ranges. Each subdivided area was surveyed and given its own map or GLO. During this process surveyors were required to indicate cultural resources such as roads and Indian trails and standardized symbols were used to represent geographic features. These GLOs are now maintained by the Bureau of Land Management as part of the official Land Status and Cadastral Survey records. As land was divided into parcels of individual ownership additional cadastral survey maps were created over time. For this reason there are often multiple GLOs or "cadastral survey maps" for one township / range, generally numbered one through four. For this seamless GLO layer, DAHP focused solely on the more historical GLOs which were usually listed as image number one or two for that specific township / range in the BLM Cadastral Survey records. In some cases no GLOs were available for review. Such areas included National Forest Lands, National Parks, Indian Reservations, and remote wilderness areas.
