Data from: American Community Survey, 5-year Series

King County, Washington census tracts with nonoverlapping vintages of the 5-year American Community Survey (ACS) estimates starting in 2010 of over 50 attributes of the most requested data derived from the U.S. Census Bureau's demographic profiles (DP02-DP05). Also includes the most recent release annually with the vintage identified in the "ACS Vintage" field.

The census tract boundaries match the vintage of the ACS data (currently 2010 and 2020) so please note the geographic changes between the decades.

Tracts have been coded as being within the City of Seattle as well as assigned to neighborhood groups called "Community Reporting Areas". These areas were created after the 2000 census to provide geographically consistent neighborhoods through time for reporting U.S. Census Bureau data. This is not an attempt to identify neighborhood boundaries as defined by neighborhoods themselves.

    Vintages: 2010, 2015, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023
    ACS Table(s): DP02, DP03, DP04, DP05

The United States Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS):
This ready-to-use layer can be used within ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, its configurable apps, dashboards, Story Maps, custom apps, and mobile apps. Data can also be exported for offline workflows. Please cite the Census and ACS when using this data.

    Data Note from the Census:
Data are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty for an estimate arising from sampling variability is represented through the use of a margin of error. The value shown here is the 90 percent margin of error. The margin of error can be interpreted as providing a 90 percent probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus the margin of error and the estimate plus the margin of error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value. In addition to sampling variability, the ACS estimates are subject to nonsampling error (for a discussion of nonsampling variability, see Accuracy of the Data). The effect of nonsampling error is not represented in these tables.

The American Community Survey (ACS) provides detailed demographic, social, economic, commuting and housing statistics based on continuous survey data collection. Data collected over the most recent 5 years are batched, summarized and published the following December.

These files contain summary data for Census Block Groups (CensusACSBlockGroup.xlsx), Tracts (CensusACSTract.xlsx), minor civil divisions (CensusACSMCD.xlsx), school districts (CensusACSSchoolDistrict.xlsx), and ZIP code tabulation areas (CensusACSZipCode.xlsx). No shapefiles are included, but these data files can be joined to associated shapefile datasets available elsewhere on this site. To facilitate this, the data files are also available as DBF tables and in a geodatabase.

Starting with the 2016-2020 data, tract and block group boundaries are those used in the 2020 Census. Starting with the 2017-2021 data, ZIP Code Tabulation Areas are those defined based on the 2020 Census. If you need the most recent ACS data for the tract and block group boundaries used in the 2010 Census, contact Matt Schroeder (information below).

The survey fielded on a monthly basis from January 2021 to April 2023. When the MOS first launched, it focused on the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines; in later waves, it was expanded to assess parents’ intentions to get their children vaccinated or boosted and to track booster and updated vaccine uptake and readiness. The MOS fielded as part of an online omnibus survey, conducted with a cross-sectional sample of approximately 5,000 U.S. adults each month.

    Description

State estimates for these years are no longer available due to methodological concerns with combining 2019 and 2020 data. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may causeBecause of the COVID-19 pandemic, most respondents answered the survey via the web in Quarter 4 of 2020, even though all responses in Quarter 1 were from in-person interviews. It is known that people may respond to the survey differently while taking it online, thus introducing what is called a mode effect. When the state estimates were released, it was assumed that the mode effect was similar for different groups of people. However, later analyses have shown that this assumption should not be made. Because of these analyses, along with concerns about the rapid societal changes in 2020, it was determined that averages across the two years could be misleading. For more detail on this decision, see the 2019-2020state data page.

Point feature class and related table containing the Precise Surveys measurement time series. Measurements include elevations, Northings and Eastings, distances, and point-to-point measurements. Northing and Easting measurements are in CA State Plane Coordinate systems, Elevations measurements are provided in NAVD88 or NGVD29. This dataset is for data exploration only. These measurements and point locations are not considered survey-grade since there may be nuances such as epochs, adjustments, and measurement methods that are not fully reflected in the GIS data. These values are not considered authoritative values and should not be used in-lieu of actual surveyed values provided by a licensed land surveyor. Related data and time series are stored in a table connected to the point feature class via a relationship class. There may be multiple table entries and time series associated to a single mark. Data was assembled through an import of Excel tables and import of mark locations in ArcGIS Pro. Records were edited by DOE, Geomatics, GDSS to resolve any non-unique mark names. This dataset was last updated 4/2024.

    Description

This table contains data from the community survey conducted as part of an Audit of the City's Cultural Centers. We surveyed members of the Austin community using a survey developed by the audit team. Survey questions generally asked respondents' opinions on cultural center programs, staff, fees, and facilities. The survey opened January 3 and closed January 27, 2020. Austin community members were invited to take the survey through social media outreach and direct email invitations. The survey and outreach materials were written in English and translated into Spanish, Vietnamese, and Simplified Chinese. A total of 1,330 community members responded to the survey. Respondents were asked only to respond for centers they had visited in the last two years and could respond for more than one center. The comments detailed in this table were in response to open-ended survey items that allowed respondents to give opinions or suggestions about each center's programming, fees, staff, and facilities. Any open-ended responses answered in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese were translated prior to analysis. To gauge the general sentiment of the responses, each was categorized as "Positive," "Negative," "Suggestion," or "N/A." During analysis, some comments were deemed more relevant to other open-ended survey items than the items for which they were originally written. These responses were re-assigned to the survey items that more closely aligned with their subject.

    Description

Avian point count surveys were conducted at 184 Great Valley study sites, and 107 Mojave Desert sites, between March and June 2017. Whenever possible, three independent point count surveys of five minutes each were conducted over the course of the month-long survey period at each site. To enable relatively accurate distance measurements, observers would mentally mark 50 meters in each cardinal direction using a rangefinder. Observer qualifications determined the complexity of the survey being conducted, with a focal survey recording data for only 25 pre-designated species; for comprehensive surveys, data for all bird species was collected. During survey site establishment visits, a 15-minute quiet period was taken at the point count center prior to starting the survey; subsequent visits only required a 5-minute quiet period. During the quiet period, the observer recorded general information about the survey location, weather, etc. During the point count, observers recorded the name of each species using six letter codes. Individuals of each species were tallied within the three different distance categories: < 50 meters, > 50 meters, and flyover. Birds seen at multiple distances were recorded only at the closest distance. Observers also recorded the confidence level of their observations and the type of detection (aural and/or visual). When individuals were detected at different confidence levels, the observer created distinct entries of the species and separated them by confidence. If an unknown species was detected, the observation was labelled as UNK, numbered, recorded with the technician’s best guess to species ID, and marked at low confidence (e.g. UNK1 – HOUFIN).

Data from: American Community Survey, 5-year Series

King County, Washington census tracts with nonoverlapping vintages of the 5-year American Community Survey (ACS) estimates starting in 2010 from the U.S. Census Bureau's demographic profile of Selected Economic Characteristics (DP03).

    Data Processing Notes:
    • Boundaries come from the US Census TIGER geodatabases, specifically, the National Sub-State Geography Database (named tlgdb(year)a_us_substategeo.gdb). Boundaries are updated at the same time as the data updates (annually), and the boundary vintage appropriately matches the data vintage as specified by the Census. These are Census boundaries with water and/or coastlines erased for cartographic and mapping purposes. For census tracts, the water cutouts are derived from a subset of the 2020 Areal Hydrography boundaries offered by TIGER. Water bodies and rivers which are 50 million square meters or larger (mid to large sized water
