    Hungary's famous Sziget Festival recorded the highest number of visitors in 2018 at 565 thousand individuals. In 2020 and 2021, the festival got canceled due to the restrictions introduced because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2023, 450 thousand people visited the festival, which marked a decrease compared to the figure recorded in the previous year. Most popular festivals in Hungary  Sziget is undoubtedly the largest festival in the country. However, Hungary hosts a wide variety of festivals dedicated to culture, arts, music, food, and wine, to mention a few. Telekom VOLT Festival also figures among the leading multi-genre festivals in Eastern Europe, yet it was canceled in 2023 due to budget cuts caused by the uncertain economic situation. Nevertheless, festival goers still have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of electronic music at Balaton Sound. The state of the Hungarian music events industry   Following the fallback triggered by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Hungarian music and concert industry still has not recovered to its pre-pandemic state. In 2022, 6.4 thousand concerts took place, compared to 6.8 thousand organized in 2020. Moreover, approximately 1.5 million concert visits were recorded in the country as of 2022, which is 30 percent lower than the figure registered in 2019.

    Even though a considerable number of people visit Hungary's most famous music festial each year, the majority of Hungarians have never attended Sziget Festival. According to a survey conducted in 2023, 77 percent of the respondents stated that they had never visited the festival and they also did not plan to do so in the future.
