Workers within the City of Tacoma are covered by two minimum employment standards: State Minimum Wage and City Paid Sick Leave. The City’s paid sick leave laws are in alignment with the State with only a few differences. Coverage is based on where work is performed and not where a business's office or headquarters is located. The paid sick leave standards apply to all employees working within Tacoma City Limits for 80+ hours per year, even if the business is based in another city or state.
Not all Tacoma addresses are within Tacoma City Limits. Use this map to help you determine whether a worksite does or does not fall within the Tacoma City Limits. It should be used with some discretion. For example, the location of addresses that are not listed in the system (such as an address for new development on a recently divided parcel) will be shown approximately on the map and may not be placed accurately. It is up to all employers to independently verify whether a worksite falls within Tacoma City Limits and whether their workers have a right to paid leave.
Please visit State of Washington Labor & Industries to find the current minimum wage for all employers. For questions about the State’s minimum wage contact Washington State Department of Labor & Industries at 1-866-219-7321 or ESGeneral@Lni.wa.gov.

These data provide an accurate high-resolution shoreline compiled from imagery of Port of Tacoma, WA . This vector shoreline data is based on an office interpretation of imagery that may be suitable as a geographic information system (GIS) data layer. This metadata describes information for both the line and point shapefiles. The NGS attribution scheme 'Coastal Cartographic Object Attribute Source Table (C-COAST)' was developed to conform the attribution of various sources of shoreline data into one attribution catalog. C-COAST is not a recognized standard, but was influenced by the International Hydrographic Organization's S-57 Object-Attribute standard so the data would be more accurately translated into S-57. This feature layer is intended for analysis purposes. For display, please use the map image layer: Land Use Designations (Tacoma). The Future Land Use Map illustrates the City’s intended future land use pattern through the geographic distribution of residential and commercial areas, the designation of mixed-use and manufacturing/industrial centers, as well as shoreline and residential designations. This land use distribution was a result of analysis of the urban form policies, existing land use and zoning, development trends, anticipated land use needs and desirable growth and development goals. The land use designations are established in the One Tacoma Comprehensive Plan and provide a basis for applying zoning districts and for making land use decisions. Boundaries for Ordinances since 2008 that changed Tacoma Zoning. See historic paper maps for rezones prior to 2008. Errors in historic paper map have been noted in this dataset. If an area has been rezoned multiple times with different boundaries since 2008, the resulting polygon is represented as a region (overlapping polygon).Boundaries are symbolized as area-wide and site-specific. These data were automated to provide an accurate high-resolution historical shoreline of Tacoma, WA suitable as a geographic information system (GIS) data layer. These data are derived from shoreline maps that were produced by the NOAA National Ocean Service including its predecessor agencies which were based on an office interpretation of imagery and/or field survey. This layer generally describes Geologically Hazardous Areas as defined in TMC 13.11.700, including erosion and landslide hazard areas. It is used to review changes to these areas including development proposals, proposals for vegetation modification, and potential violations for compliance with critical area and building codes. This layer was derived from 2018 bare earth lidar. The initial analysis steps include: slope tool to create a % rise surface then using the int tool and reclassify using the 0-15, 15-25, 25-40 and >40 percent slope. Those classifications were converted to polygons. Further refinement was done to reduce the number of polygons. All areas in the >15% classification were deleted, all polygons <200ft in length and all polygons < 100 sq. ft. in area were deleted. Additional simplifying was done to create smoother boundaries of areas and a series of positive and negative buffers was used to remove holes in areas. Additional refinement to this was done including: (Deleted polygons <= 200 sq. ft. for Slope Category 15 - 25%. Deleted polygons <= 100 sq. ft. for Slope Category 25 - 40% & Over 40%)Data Steward contact: Craig Kuntz, ckuntz@cityoftacoma.org or Lisa Spadoni, Natural Resources Program Manager, lspadoni@cityoftacoma.org.
Wetlands are areas that are inundated or saturated by surface water or groundwater at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Maps are based on known wetlands verified via site inspection and permits, filled and non-jurisdictional wetlands based on permit records and/or site reviews, high probability areas are generally mapped based on aerial vegetation and contours.
