    Description

During the academic year of 2021-22, public school teachers in the United States made an average of 66,397 U.S. dollars per year. This is a significant increase from the 1979-80 school year, when the average annual wage for public school teachers was 15,970 U.S. dollars.

    Stagnating wages

While the American economy is doing well, wages have been stagnating in recent years. The federal minimum wage, which currently stands at 7.25 U.S. dollars per hour, has not been raised since July 2009, meaning that minimum wage has not increased with inflation. Although minimum wage varies by state, the federal minimum wage prevails in many states. Additionally, median hourly earnings for workers, while increasing steadily, have not seen any significant jumps in recent years.

    Fair pay for teachers

The majority of Americans believe that teachers are not paid fairly for the work that they do. Full-time public elementary and secondary school teachers in the U.S. have the highest salary in New York state, but the lowest salary in Mississippi.

/!\ This deposit is deprecated; a more complete version of the deposit can be found here: 8403142. /!\ CLARAThis deposit is part of the CLARA project. The CLARA project aims to empower teachers in the task of creating new educational resources. And in particular with the task of handling the licenses of reused educational resources. The present deposit contains the RDF files created using an RDF mapping (RML-star) and a mapper (Morph-KGC). The files used as inputs can be found here. That pipeline can be found on Gitlab. The data used in that pipeline originate from X5GON, a European project aiming to generate and gather open educational resources. ContentThe present Knowledge Graph contains information about 45K educational resources and 135K subjects (extracted from DBpedia). That information contains the author, its title and description the license, a URL to the resource itself, the language of the educational resource, its mimetype, and finally which subject it talks about, and to what extent. That extent is given by two scores, a PageRank score and a cosinus score (that were not calculated on our graph but during the X5GON project) A particularity of the Knowledge Graph is its heavy use of RDF reification, across large multi-valued properties.Other versions of the same deposit can be found using different reification models: Standard reification Named graphs Singleton properties The Knowledge Graph also contains categories originating from DBpedia. They help precise the subjects that are also extracted from DBpedia. The deposit contains five types of files: Authors_[X].nt - Those contain the authors' nodes, their type, and name. ER_[X].ttl - Those contain the educational resources and their information using RDF-star. categories_skos_[X].ttl - Those contain the hierarchy of DBpedia categories. categories_labels.ttl - This file contains additional information about the categories. categories_article.ttl - This file contains the RDF triples that link the DBpedia subjects to the DBpedia categories. This record and the related records are deprecated, move to this one for easier usability: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.8403142

    Description

ABSTRACT This article presents the results of a cross-sectional descriptive research carried out in a university in south central Chile, in which teachers of Basic Education in training and in active participation, on graphic representations, due to the role they play in the teaching and learning process from the first year of Basic Education in the Chilean school curriculum. For the collection of information, an instrument validated statistically by the authors was applied, which showed a reliability (Cronbach's alpha) of 0.78, which allowed to evaluate the coding and decoding abilities of quantitative information summarized in univariate and bivariate graphical representations, making use of Kimura's taxonomy (1999), whose introduction at the school system level would generate the skills demanded by the national curriculum. The results show that, in general, teachers in training and active have high average percentages in the basic reading ability of univariate information, summarized in polygons of simple frequency. However, the percentages decrease to 61.3% in the future professors and to 50% in the professors in active, because it is a histogram, representation widely used to show the distribution of quantitative information in any course of statistics at national and international level. These results, novelty in the Chilean context, allow us to observe that the teachers in training and in active have not sufficiently developed the ability to make a joint reading of two quantitative variables summarized by means of a graphic representation, demanding innovation in the processes of instruction that guarantee an improvement in learning.

    Description

The longitudinal dataset is part of the OpenTeQ project, a cluster RCT conducted on 198 Italian middle schools to evaluate the impact of a light-touch training intervention on teachers relational skills. A two-wave longitudinal survey was conducted via CATI in 2016 and 2017, involving all the Italian language and math teachers operating in the 7th grade classes of the enrolled schools. In both occasions, they were asked to self-assess their efficacy in teaching using the Ohio State Teacher Efficacy Scale (OSTES). The two waves have been finally merged into a unique longitudinal dataset of 1,912 participants (response rate of 92%). These data are used to investigate the longitudinal invariance of the OSTES, evaluating whether different testing procedures led to similar conclusions about model fit and invariance of measurement and structural parameters. To ensure the complete reproducibility of findings, the Mplus 7 syntaxes for all model specifications are made available with the data. 1,912 individuals. All secondary schools of first grade located in the 11 selected provinces (Milano, Roma, Napoli, Como, Pavia, Novara, Verona, Bologna, Pesaro-Urbino, Ancona and Bari) and which had at least four first classes (grade 6) available to be directly involved in the training during the 2015/2016 school year were invited to participate in the experimentation. The complete list of schools with these characteristics was provided to the Research Group by the Italian Ministry of Education, for a total of 619 institutions. At the end of the contact and enrollment phases of the schools, 198 institutions decided to formally join. All Italian and mathematics teachers working in the second classes of these schools (Grade 7) were involved in the two waves of the survey Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI)
