Data on the extent, patterns, and trends of human land use are critically important to support global and national priorities for conservation and sustainable development. To inform these issues, we created a series of detailed global datasets for 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2017 to evaluate temporal changes and spatial patterns of land use modification of terrestrial lands (excluding Antarctica). These data were calculated using the degree of human modification approach that combines the proportion of a pixel of a given stressor (i.e. footprint) times the intensity of that stressor (ranging from 0 to 1.0). Our novel datasets are detailed (0.09 km^2 resolution), temporally consistent (for 1990-2015, every 5 years), comprehensive (11 change stressors, 14 current), robust (using an established framework and incorporating classification errors and parameter uncertainty), and strongly validated. We also provide a dataset that represents ~2017 conditions and has 14 stressors for an even more comprehensive dataset, but the 2017 results should not be used to calculate change with the other datasets (1990-2015). Note that because of repo file size limits, the datasets for the for the HM overall for 1990 and 1995, as well as major stressors for all years, are located this Google Drive.

Datasets are provided for each of the 6 stressor groups: built-up areas (BU), agricultural/timber harvest (AG), extractive energy and mining (EX), human intrusions (HI), natural system modifications (NS), and transportation & infrastructure (TI), available now at 300 m resolution for each of the time steps in the 1990-2015 time series.
It provides the addition datasets for the years 1995 and 2005, calculated using linear interpolation when stressor data do not provide data at the specific year.
The ESA 150 m water-mask dataset (Lamarche et al. 2017) was used to provide better and more consistent alignment of datasets at the ocean-land-inland water interfaces.

The spatial and temporal dynamics of seagrasses have been studied from the leaf to patch (100 m2) scales. However, landscape scale (> 100 km2) seagrass population dynamics are unresolved in seagrass ecology. Previous remote sensing approaches have lacked the temporal or spatial resolution, or ecologically appropriate mapping, to fully address this issue. This paper presents a robust, semi-automated object-based image analysis approach for mapping dominant seagrass species, percentage cover and above ground biomass using a time series of field data and coincident high spatial resolution satellite imagery. The study area was a 142 km**2 shallow, clear water seagrass habitat (the Eastern Banks, Moreton Bay, Australia). Nine data sets acquired between 2004 and 2013 were used to create seagrass species and percentage cover maps through the integration of seagrass photo transect field data, and atmospherically and geometrically corrected high spatial resolution satellite image data (WorldView-2, IKONOS and Quickbird-2) using an object based image analysis approach. Biomass maps were derived using empirical models trained with in-situ above ground biomass data per seagrass species. Maps and summary plots identified inter- and intra-annual variation of seagrass species composition, percentage cover level and above ground biomass. The methods provide a rigorous approach for field and image data collection and pre-processing, a semi-automated approach to extract seagrass species and cover maps and assess accuracy, and the subsequent empirical modelling of seagrass biomass. The resultant maps provide a fundamental data set for understanding landscape scale seagrass dynamics in a shallow water environment. Our findings provide proof of concept for the use of time-series analysis of remotely sensed seagrass products for use in seagrass ecology and management.

The data records a single route taken through the suburb of St Lucia, Queensland, Australia. The route was traversed at five different times of the day to

A global analysis of accessibility to high-density urban centres at a resolution of 1×1 kilometre for 2015, as measured by travel time.
To model the time required for individuals to reach their most accessible city, we first quantified the speed at which humans move through the landscape. The principle underlying this work was that all areas on Earth, represented as pixels within a 2D grid, had a cost (that is, time) associated with moving through them that we quantified as a movement speed within a cost or ‘friction’ surface. We then applied a least-cost-path algorithm to the friction surface in relation to a set of high-density urban points. The algorithm calculated pixel-level travel times for the optimal path between each pixel and its nearest city (that is, with the shortest journey time). From this work we ultimately produced two products: (a) an accessibility map showing travel time to urban centres, as cities are proxies for access to many goods and services that affect human wellbeing; and (b) a friction surface that underpins the accessibility map and enables the creation of custom accessibility maps from other point datasets of interest. The map products are in GeoTIFF format in EPSG:4326 (WGS84) project with a spatial resolution of 30 arcsecs. The accessibility map pixel values represent travel time in minutes. The friction surface map pixels represent the time, in minutes required to travel one metre. This DANS data record contains these two map products.

First, we randomly generate 500 points for each tile, and all these points are aligned to the pixel grid center of the subdatasets in 60m resolution (eg. B10) for consistence when comparing with other products.
It is because that other cloud detection method may use the cirrus band as features, which is in 60m resolution.
Then, the time series image patches of two shapes are cropped with each point as the center.
The patches of shape \(42 \times 42\) are cropped from the bands in 10m resolution (B2, B3, B4, B8) and are used to construct this dataset.
And the patches of shape \(348 \times 348\) are cropped from the True Colour Image (TCI, details see sentinel-2 user guide) file and are used to interpreting class labels.
The samples with a large number of timestamps could be time-consuming in the IO stage, thus the time series patches are divided into different groups with timestamps not exceeding 100 for every group.

Remote Sensing of Environment, 312, 114344.The global urbanization trend is geographically manifested through city expansion and the renewal of internal urban structures and functions. Time-series urban land use (ULU) maps are vital for capturing dynamic land changes in the urbanization process, giving valuable insights into urban development and its environmental consequences. Recent studies have mapped ULU in some cities with a unified model, but ignored the regional differences among cities; and they generated ULU maps year by year, but ignored temporal correlations between years; thus, they could be weak in large-scale and long time-series ULU monitoring. Accordingly, we introduce an temporal-spatial-semantic collaborative (TSS) mapping framework to generating accurate ULU maps with considering regional differences and temporal correlations. Firstly, to support model training, a large-scale ULU sample dataset based on OpenStreetMap (OSM) and Sentinel-2 imagery is automatically constructed, providing a total number of 56,412 samples with a size of 512 × 512 which are divided into six sub-regions in China and used for training different classification models. Then, an urban land use mapping network (ULUNet) is proposed to recognize ULU. This model utilizes a primary and an auxiliary encoder to process noisy OSM samples and can enhance the model's robustness under noisy labels. Finally, taking the temporal correlations of ULU into consideration, the recognized ULU are optimized, whose boundaries are unified by a time-series co-segmentation, and whose categories are modified by a knowledge-data driven method. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we consider all urban areas in China (254,566 km2), and produce a time-series China urban land use dataset (CULU) at a 10-m resolution, spanning from 2016 to 2022, with an overall accuracy of CULU is 82.42%. Through comparison, it can be found that CULU outperforms existing datasets such as EULUC-China and UFZ-31cities in data accuracies, spatial boundaries consistencies and land use transitions logicality. The results indicate that the proposed method and generated dataset can play important roles in land use change monitoring, ecological-environmental evolution analysis, and also sustainable city development.

This deposit contains the materials used during the development of this PhD thesis. During this research, we applied machine learning methods to obtain new insights about tick dynamics and tick bite risk in the Netherlands. We combined volunteered data sources coming from two citizen science projects with a wide array of environmental variables (e.g. weather, remote sensing, official geodata) to devise models capable of predicting the risk of tick bite or daily tick activity at the national level. We hope that this research and the associated materials can be inspiring for future researchers.
This map includes a variety of Landsat services which have been time enabled and can be explored using the Time Slider in the ArcGIS.COM Map Viewer or Explorer. Each layer has a predefined useful band combination already set on the services.
Data Source: This map includes image services compiled from the following Global Land Survey (GLS) datasets: GLS 2005, GLS 2000, GLS 1990, and GLS 1975. GLS datasets are created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) using Landsat images. These global minimal-cloud cover, orthorectified Landsat data products support global assessments of land-cover, land cover-change, and ecosystem dynamics such as disturbance and vegetation health.

This dataset contains the “GapMap Frontal to Temporal" in the individual, single subject template of the MNI Colin 27 as well as the MNI ICBM 152 2009c nonlinear asymmetric reference space. In order to provide whole-brain coverage for the cortex within the Julich-Brain Atlas, yet uncharted parts of the frontal cortex have been combined to the brain region “GapMap Frontal to Temporal”. The distributions were modeled so that probabilistic gap maps were computed in analogy to other maps of the Julich-Brain Atlas. The probabilistic map of “GapMap Frontal to Temporal” is provided in NifTi format for each hemisphere in the reference space. The Julich-Brain atlas relies on a modular, flexible and adaptive framework containing workflows to create the probabilistic brain maps for these structures. New maps are continuously replacing parts of “GapMap Frontal to Temporal” with progress in mapping.
