The swine budget provides a guide and format to estimate the cost of production and returns for a swine enterprise. Data is released monthly by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) for Ontario pork producers. These cost estimates and assumptions are based on information obtained from a variety of industry sources, such as Grain Farmers of Ontario, feed companies and production managers. The tool includes the following for farrow to finish (dollars/pig): * estimated market hog value * feed costs * variable costs * fixed costs * total cost * net return It also includes the estimated accumulated cost for a market hog sold each month. Learn more about the OMAFRA swine budget. Note: * These cost figures are not obtained from a survey. * The variation in production practices can cause a large variation in costs of production. Please allow for adjustments when interpreting and applying these figures to your swine production enterprise. * Individual farm figures will vary depending on your farm’s resources, management, production, financial arrangements, health status and size of the swine, and the market conditions and level of risk.

This data was collected as part of an initiative by the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO), the Ontario Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), and the University of Guelph to evaluate the impact of diverse cropping systems on soil health, water quality, and greenhouse gas emissions. Measurements were taken from 18 lysimeters containing Elora loam (9) and Cambridge sand (9) soil columns. For each lysimeter, data is available for the weight of the soil column and drainage tank, as well as the soil matric potential, electrical conductivity, temperature, and volumetric water content at depths of 5, 10, 30, 60 and 90 cm. This dataset includes data collected from January 1, 2019 to June 3, 2019. Data for June 4, 2019 to December 31, 2019 will be added as it becomes available.

As a requirement of their license, each contractor must report to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) the location of the area where they installed drainage tile.
Please note that this data was created using the sketches provided by contractors in their tile drainage reports. The sketches are rough estimates of the real world locations of these features. Please use caution when interpreting data and results.

Controlled Drainage is the regulation of the water table by means of pumps, control dams, check drains, water level control devices or combination to maintain the water table at a depth favourable for crop growth. This controlled drainage polygonal data layer delineates areas and attributes them as good, fair, or poor, in respect to their suitability for controlled drainage potential. See "Purpose" for symbology details. This data set was created based on guidance from a Technical Steering Committee composed of representatives from Land Improvement Contractors of Ontario (LICO), Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada,Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and the Ontario agricultural community.
