Tompkins County's Legislature

The Tompkins County Planning Department utilized inter-departmental mapping expertise of the Tompkins County Information Technology Services GIS Division to produce defined watershed boundaries for surface water features for Tompkins County, NY. The need for this data set has been identified by various county departments, local municipal agencies, and other not-for-profit organizations.

Critical Environmental Areas (CEAs) are areas in the state which have been designated by a local or state agency to recognize a specific geographical area with one or more of the following characteristics:

• A feature that is a benefit or threat to human health;
• An exceptional or unique natural setting;
• An exceptional or unique social, historic, archaeological, recreational, or educational value; or
• An inherent ecological, geological, or hydrological sensitivity to change that maybe adversely affected by any physical disturbance.

Water depths were measured during November 2015 and bathymetric elevations were computed for the lower Sixmile Creek reservoir in Ithaca, Tompkins County, N.Y. These data include ADCP-measured transect data and manually-measured point data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Ithaca, N.Y., during November 16-20, 2015. These data were used by the GIS Program, City of Ithaca, N.Y., to create a bathymetric surface (TIN) of the reservoir. Data collected in 1938 were used to create a second TIN and a contour line shapefile. This dataset includes the ADCP-measured transect data and manually-measured point data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Ithaca, N.Y., during November 16-20, 2015, and the two bathymetric-surface TINS (for 1938 and 2015) and a 1938 contour line shapefile that were created by the GIS program, City of Ithaca, N.Y.

This polygon feature class shows tax parcel boundaries as created and maintained by Tomkins County Assessment Office, attached to New York State RPS property data also maintained by the Assessment Office. The RPS data is amended by City GIS to include fields for zoning and ILPC review as well as coordinates so data can be shown as points. Polygons feature class shows zoning for areas of the City of Ithaca. Use in conjunction with GPzones layer. Created as digital in 1999 and maintained by the Dept of Planning, Building and Development. Converted and distributed by City of Ithaca GIS Program. Latest updates are ca 2018. Boundaries that follow parcel lines are reshaped periodically as parcel lines are adjusted and corrected. Do not use this map for determinations of zoning at edges of zones.
