Digital data is provided for the indexes of: - 1:100,000 scale topographic maps - 1:250,000 scale topographic maps - 1:1,000,000 scale General Reference maps These indexes are those used in the online map index dashboards and web maps. They contain value-add attributes, including map number, map name, map title, year published, the latitude and longitude of the extents of the maps sheets and data tiles covering Australia. They also include a link to download the map. Available in ESRI Shapefile and GDB.

The ArcGIS Online US Geological Survey (USGS) topographic map collection now contains over 177,000 historical quadrangle maps dating from 1882 to 2006. The USGS Historical Topographic Map Explorer app brings these maps to life through an interface that guides users through the steps for exploring the map collection:

Finding the maps of interest is simple. Users can see a footprint of the map in the map view before they decide to add it to the display, and thumbnails of the maps are shown in pop-ups on the timeline. The timeline also helps users find maps because they can zoom and pan, and maps at select scales can be turned on or off by using the legend boxes to the left of the timeline. Once maps have been added to the display, users can reorder them by dragging them. Users can also download maps as zipped GeoTIFF images. Users can also share the current state of the app through a hyperlink or social media. Topographic map indexes are also available as digital data. Maps are listed by name on the back of the index. The 1:50 000 Index also lists availability of Orthophoto Map (OPM) and Topographic Line Map (TLM) for available 1:50 000 maps.

Both indexes are available in printed form FREE from your nearest topographic map retailer or from the Geoscience Australia Sales Centre. You can also download PDFs of each index.

Note: To print these PDFs at 100% requires an A0 printer. They are best for viewing on-screen. For new maps which may have been released after these indexes were published, please refer to the new releases page or use the Product Search tool.

The 1:50000 Topographic Map Index for Ecuador CHapter 4

Online map index of 1:50 000 scale topographic map sheets covering Australia. The application allows users to search, select and download 50k topographic maps with redirection to the relevant eCat record. This is available as an interactive web map.

Topographic maps produced by Natural Resources Canada conform to the National Topographic System (NTS) of Canada. Indexes are available in three standard scales: 1:1,000,000, 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. The area covered by a given mapsheet is determined by its latitude and longitude. 1:1,000,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of three numbers (e.g. 098). 1:250,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of numbers, and letters ranging from A through P (e.g. 098C). Sixteen smaller segments (1 to 16) form blocks used for 1:50,000 mapping (e.g. 098C03).
