In the first quarter of 2025, the total number of food and beverage employees in tourism establishments in Saudi Arabia was about 645 thousand employees. Around 90 percent of these employees were males. Meanwhile, the Saudi tourism industry had approximately 134 thousand employees in areas related to tourist accommodation.

This dataset combines official Saudi Arabia tourism statistics with climate data from NASA POWER to enable analysis of tourism trends, spending behavior, travel purposes, and climate impacts on tourism flows between Saudi provinces.

Data coverage: January 2018 – December 2023 Granularity: Monthly data per origin–destination province pair

Context

This dataset provides statistics on inbound(Foreign) and domestic tourism across all the provinces of Saudi Arabia. It includes information on tourist numbers, overnight stays, spending patterns, and growth trends over multiple years. It includes both a merged dataset(tourism_data.csv) containing all provinces in a single file, as well as individual files for each province for more granular analysis.

In other cases data are from tourism accommodation establishments. For some countries number of arrivals is limited to arrivals by air and for others to arrivals staying in hotels. Some countries include arrivals of nationals residing abroad while others do not. Caution should thus be used in comparing arrivals across countries. The data on inbound tourists refer to the number of arrivals, not to the number of people traveling.
