Refer to Adopted Sheffield Local Plan for more information about the Core Strategy and Unitary Development Plan. The Draft Sheffield Plan, together with amendments proposed by the City Council, was approved by the Council for submission to the Government on 6 September 2023.The Draft Plan was submitted on 6 October 2023.The next stage will be a Public Examination conducted by independent, Government-appointed Planning Inspectors. More information is available on the Sheffield Plan Examination webpage.

The geographical extent of the Sheffield Clean Air Zone.Data released under the Open Government License. The City Council has a statutory duty to manage local air quality in Sheffield under the Environment Act 1995. To help to achieve this a Clean Air Zone will start from early 2023. This is a class C chargeable zone for the most polluting large goods vehicles, vans, buses and taxi’s that drive within the inner ring road and city centre. Private cars and motorbikes will not be charged. The boundary data supplied defines the proposed extents of this class C charging zone. The boundary may be subject to some minor changes in the future to account for currently unknown construction restrictions. This dataset will be updated regularly to reflect any such minor amendments.
