    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of Tuscaloosa by race. It includes the population of Tuscaloosa across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Tuscaloosa across relevant racial categories.

    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the Tuscaloosa population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of Tuscaloosa across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

    Key observations

    In 2023, the population of Tuscaloosa was 111,338, a 0.69% increase year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, Tuscaloosa population was 110,575, an increase of 1.37% compared to a population of 109,078 in 2021. Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) population and (b) population as a percentage of the total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the racial categories idetified by the US Census Bureau. It is ensured that the population estimates used in this dataset pertain exclusively to the identified racial categories, and do not rely on any ethnicity classification. About this dataset

Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Tuscaloosa by race. It includes the population of Tuscaloosa across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Tuscaloosa across relevant racial categories.

Key observations

The percent distribution of Tuscaloosa population by race (across all racial categories recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau): 49.64% are white, 42.77% are Black or African American, 0.04% are American Indian and Alaska Native, 2.64% are Asian, 0.03% are Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, 1.55% are some other race and 3.33% are multiracial.

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.
