TwitterThis is a public and downloadable traffic data product of statewide average annual daily traffic (AADT) counts. Annual average daily traffic is a measure of transportation system use that represents the typical traffic volume at a location. Standard traffic monitoring AADT calculation methods vary depending on traffic data collection equipment, data type, and frequency. The TxDOT AADT count data in this layer is calculated as 24 hour volume x Axle Correction Factor x Monthly Adjustment Factor, or by traffic monitoring ramp balancing procedures. In a small number of cases, other methods may be used at TxDOT's discretion. TwitterThe traffic stations at these locations collect short-term traffic count data to produce Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT). This point layer contains combined traffic counts from mainlanes and frontage roads at one station displayed on the centerline of the roadway for the State of Texas. The data is created and maintained by the Transportation Planning and Programming (TPP) Division’s Traffic section at TxDOT. Traffic counts are collected on an annual basis as a means of measuring the use of public roads in the state. AADTs are calculated using a volume count, axle factor, and seasonal factor. A general overview of the equation is AADT = axles * axle factor * seasonal factor. The data is sourced from the Statewide Traffic Analysis and Reporting System (STARS II).

TwitterThe TxDOT Roadway Inventory 2018 layer is a statewide dataset that has attribute information routed to TxDOT Roadway linework. By using linear referencing tools, attribute information from the TxDOT Roadway Inventory table are located on the linework. Roadway attributes such as functional system, traffic counts, surface types among many others can be found on a roadway simply by selecting it or performing a query. The TxDOT Roadway Inventory layer can also be found on www.TxDOT.gov and TxDOT’s Open Portal. TwitterThe Annual Average Daily Traffic Counts (AADT) are collected by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and comprise the "On System" roadways defined as major highways and regionally significant arterials. The AADT counts result from a mathematical computation where the counts are made over a given period of time and the high and low counts are removed. The counts are done during the non-summer weeks; excluding Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The AADT counts are what could be expected during a normal workday of a given week.

TwitterThe TxDOT Roadway Inventory is a statewide dataset of attribute data routed to TxDOT's roadway network linework using linear referencing. Roadways are dynamically segmented whenever a single attribute changes, resulting in a highly segmented network that can be queried and filtered for specific attribute values. Attributes such as functional system, traffic counts, surface type, speed limits and many more are contained within. This layer is published annually based on end-of-year data that is reported to the Federal Highway Administration. This layer is highly segmented and thus in a different format than most of our regularly published datasets, which are segmented based on a single attribute. The TxDOT Roadway Inventory layer can also be found on txdot.gov and TxDOT’s Open Data Portal. This product is created annually by the Transportation Planning and Programming Division at TxDOT in the Data Analysis, Mapping and Reporting Branch for internal and public use.
