The Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index, commonly known as the "Footsie", is the most widely recognized stock market index in the United Kingdom. It is made up of the 100 largest blue-chip companies on the London Stock Exchange. Companies from various sectors, such as healthcare, consumer goods, and energy, are included in the index, as are leading banks of the United Kingdom, such as HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, and Barclays. Moreover, it can be seen as a reflection of the investment climate in the United Kingdom. What is not included in the FTSE 100 Index? Most notably, the FTSE 100 Index, like most indices, is not adjusted for inflation. While inflation in the United Kingdom has gone down dramatically since 2023, it might be useful to adjust the historic figures on the index when comparing historic data to current levels. This is especially important when the index seems to have increased by a few percentage points because inflation may have increased at a faster rate than stock prices.

ETF Market Size 2025-2029
The ETF market size is forecast to increase by USD 17.94 billion at a CAGR of 20.2% between 2024 and 2029.
The market continues to experience robust growth, with increasing institutional adoption and investor preference for cost-effective, diversified investment solutions. One of the key drivers propelling this market forward is the expansion of bond ETFs, blockchains which now account for over one-third of the total assets under management. This trend is expected to persist, as fixed income securities offer attractive yields in the current low-interest-rate environment. However, the market is not without its challenges. A significant concern is the potential for transaction risks, particularly in illiquid securities. This risk can lead to price discrepancies between the ETF's net asset value and its market price, potentially resulting in losses for investors.
Additionally, market volatility and sudden price movements can exacerbate these risks, making it crucial for market participants to closely monitor market conditions and adjust their strategies accordingly. Companies seeking to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the market while mitigating transaction risks may consider focusing on liquid securities and implementing robust risk management strategies.

This research project explored when governments call elections and how the timing of elections influences the electoral result. In many parliamentary systems, the timing of the next election is at the discretion of the current government. Rather than waiting for the end of their term, leaders are free to call elections when it is advantageous to them and when they expect to win. This project was designed to use game theory to model how leaders decide whether to call elections based on their expectations about future performance. The data collected for this study reflect the timing of the British General Elections. In particular, this study addressed five research questions: (1) When are elections called? (2) What are the electoral implications of the timing of an election? (3) How are election timing and subsequent post-electoral economic performance related? (4) How does the election timing affect the length of the campaign? and (5) How does the London stock market respond to the announcement of elections? The data cover the time span from 1900 to 2001, although most of the files focus on the period from August 1, 1945, to June 13, 2001. Part 1 (Dates of Key Political Events Data) contains the dates of key political events, such as elections, first meetings of parliament, dissolutions, announcements of an election, by-elections, shifts in party allegiances, confidence votes, or changes in Prime Minister. Additional variables in Part 1 include whether there is a minority government or coalition government, percentage share of the vote by party type, number of seats by party type, and election turnout. Part 2 (By-Elections Data) includes the change in seats as a result of by-elections. Variables include the date of the by-election, electoral district, and change in seats by political parties. Part 3 (Change in Party Allegiance Data) contains information about the date of the allegiance shift, the electoral district, and defections to and from various political parties. Part 4 (Public Opinion Data) includes Gallup public opinion data on voting intentions, approval of government record, and approval of Prime Minister and opposition leader. Part 5 (Basic Economic Variables) contains basic economic data for the United Kingdom, such as various measures of gross domestic product and change in retail price index. Part 6 (Monthly Inflation Data) contains monthly inflation data as measured by the percentage change in retail price index. Part 7 (Unemployment Data) consists of monthly, quarterly, and yearly unemployment data. Part 8 (Stock Market Data) includes data on the United Kingdom market index, United States Dow Jones industrial average, Standard and Poors' composite index, the Financial Times 500 stock index, and Datastream's measure of British funds on the London Exchange. Part 9 (Financial Times 30 Share Index Data) contains the Financial Times 30 close and the volume of bargains. Lastly, Part 10 (Newspaper Stories Data) consists of counts of newspaper stories relating to the next general election.

Coffee growers raise two species of coffee bean: Arabica and robusta. The former is more expensive, selling for 2.93 U.S. dollars per kilogram in 2018 and projected to increase in price to 4.8 U.S. dollars in 2026. Robusta, named because it can grow at a wider range of altitudes and temperatures, sold for 1.87 U.S. dollars in 2018, projected to sell at 3.9 U.S. dollars per kilogram in 2026. Coffee production Coffee originally comes from Ethiopia, where a significant portion of coffee production continues to take place. The more popular bean, Arabica, takes its name from the Arabian Empire, when coffee consumption spread throughout the Middle East. After overcoming its ban by the Catholic Church, who saw coffee as in intoxicant from the Muslim world, coffee sales per capita are highest in European countries. Major players Starbucks has shaped the modern coffee culture, capitalizing on the Seattle coffee shop scene. This opened gourmet coffee to a wider market, shifting the global demand from cheaper robusta to better-tasting Arabica varieties. This shift has influenced the world coffee market, prompting companies such as McDonalds to open McCafé stores to cater to the evolving tastes of global consumers.
