Country breakdown of trade in services values by mode of supply (imports and exports). Countries include only total services data, while regions include top-level Extended Balance of Payments Services (EBOPS) breakdown.

The distribution of greenhouse gas emission sources in the United Kingdom varies by country. Transportation was the highest-emitting sector in both England and Scotland in 2022, representing around 30 percent of total emissions in each nation. By comparison, agriculture was the highest-emitting sector in Northern Ireland, while industry was the largest source of emissions in Wales.

As of 2023, ownership over North Sea drilling licenses for the United Kingdom Continental Shelf was spread across companies with headquarters in some ** different countries. Of these, companies with headquarters in the United Kingdom only accounted for **** percent, meaning foreign entities made up the majority of equity stakes in the UK North Sea.

In the twelve months to December 2024, approximately 948,000 people migrated to the United Kingdom, while 517,000 emigrated away from the country, resulting in a net migration figure of 431,000.

This dataset provides Census 2021 estimates that classify usual residents in England and Wales by their country of birth, this dataset comprises a more detailed breakdown of birth country. The estimates are as at Census Day, 21 March 2021.

Census 2021 rounded migration estimates for local authorities in England and Wales were originally released on 28 June 2022 in rounded form. The bulletin explored change over time, regional variations and the composition of the population by sex and by five-year age group.

This update provides unrounded migration estimates from Country level down to Output Area.

Area type

Census 2021 statistics are published for a number of different geographies. These can be large, for example the whole of England, or small, for example an output area (OA), the lowest level of geography for which statistics are produced.

For higher levels of geography, more detailed statistics can be produced. When a lower level of geography is used, such as output areas (which have a minimum of 100 persons), the statistics produced have less detail. This is to protect the confidentiality of people and ensure that individuals or their characteristics cannot be identified.

Coverage

Census 2021 statistics are published for the whole of England and Wales. Data are also available in these geographic types:

• country - for example, Wales
• region - for example, London
• local authority - for example, Cornwall
• health area – for example, Clinical Commissioning Group
• statistical area - for example, MSOA or LSOA

Country of birth

The country in which a person was born.

For people not born in one of in the four parts of the UK, there was an option to select "elsewhere".

People who selected "elsewhere" were asked to write in the current name for their country of birth.

This dataset shows different breakdowns of London's resident population by their country of birth. Data used comes from ONS' Annual Population Survey (APS). The APS has a sample of around 320,000 people in the UK (around 28,000 in London). As such all figures must be treated with some caution. 95% confidence interval levels are provided. Numbers have been rounded to the nearest thousand and figures for smaller populations have been suppressed.
