    Description

In a survey from the first quarter of 2022, EE (a subsidiary of BT) emerged as the most popular mobile service provider in the United Kingdom (UK), with about 26 percent of respondents reporting that they used that provider. With a mobile voice network that covers approximately 97 percent of indoor premises in England as of January 2022, EE also consistently scored highly in customer satisfaction surveys. In 2021, 91 percent of EE mobile subscribers surveyed reported being either fairly satisfied or very satisfied with the service.

    EE customer base

EE, purchased by the BT Group in 2016, provided service to roughly 30 million customers in the UK as at March 2018, including machine to machine (M2M) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) customers. Of these customers, the vast majority subscribe on a post-pay basis, with 17.6 million customers on such a contract. In 2021, Vodafone reported having over 17 million mobile customers in the UK.

    Shifting mobile landscapes

Mobile service providers have had to contend with seismic shifts in their industry, with an increase in the average revenue per user (ARPU) for mobile data and a decline in the ARPU for mobile voice services, amounting to an overall decline in mobile service ARPU. This is also evident in figures reported for the UK by Vodafone and Telefonica. Each of these companies reported a drop in mobile ARPU, most notably for customers on long-term contracts.

    Description

Introduction This dataset reports on UK Power Networks' use of paid flexibility services. UK Power Networks uses flexibility (demand/generation turn up/down) in London, the South East, and the East of England to manage electricity flows on the local electricity distribution network. Flexibility dispatches data can be used to understand historical volumes, prices paid, geographic locations, providers, and technologies used. Using the Analyse tab, users can visualize and explore the growth of flexibility dispatches. These transparent insights can inform current and prospective flexibility services providers on how often flexibility is dispatched and at what price, including local authorities, electricity suppliers, industrial/commercial energy users, and generation operators. The data can also be used by wider stakeholders such as market analysts, advisers, regulators, and policymakers. A wide variety of energy resources and low carbon technologies already provide flexibility services to UK Power Networks, including grid-scale batteries, electric vehicle charge points, solar farms, wind farms, and residential energy users. These are grouped using the industry standard technology categorizations as used for regulatory reporting. To find out more about how to participate in flexibility tenders and become a flexibility provider, visit our webpage: Flexibility - UKPN DSO (ukpowernetworks.co.uk). Flexibility dispatches are currently reported from 1 April 2023, with new dispatches added monthly. Each row includes the timing, location, product, capacity, technology, and provider for our growing volume of flexibility dispatches. The data is assessed for errors using algorithmic quality control as well as being evaluated manually by a flexibility engineer before publication. The dataset can be downloaded or incorporated into the user’s interface via API. Requested volumes may not match delivered volumes, depending on performance against the relevant baseline. You can find actual dispatch data in the yearly Procurement Statements and Reports at Tender Hub - UKPN DSO (ukpowernetworks.co.uk). This includes our annual Flexibility Statement (forecasts for the next regulatory year), Flexibility Report (outcomes from last regulatory year), and data appendices.

    Methodological Approach

Dispatches are made by a control engineer in the DSO Operations team to manage local constraints. Dispatches of flexible units (FUs) may be made either by API or email, depending on the FU's technological capabilities and preference. This dataset reports on dispatches made under Secure, Dynamic, and Day-Ahead products. Flexibility provided through our Sustain product is not dispatched and hence is not included within this dataset. Requested volumes may not match delivered volumes, depending on performance against the relevant baseline. Historic data may be updated from time to time where data errors are identified.

Quality Control Statement Dispatches are passed through a quality control algorithm to flag anomalies and erroneous data. Quality control checks include:

Times are consistent with the contracted service window; Dispatches are matched to the correct flexibility zone; Dispatches are unique (no duplicates); Dispatches are issued at the contracted price and volume; Dispatches are matched with an active contract.

Assurance Statement The flexibility dispatch report is reviewed by a flexibility engineer and a member of the Data Science team to ensure the data is accurate before publication on the Open Data Portal. Any data errors in previous reports are corrected on an ongoing basis and updated monthly.

The release comprises three briefing notes (stock, rents and sector characteristics), four dynamic look-up tools (Excel based) allowing users to view the underlying data at a PRP and Group PRP level, a range of geographies and also view five-year trend information at a range of geographies. Additional data tables, raw data from the SDR and technical documentation is also provided.

The statistics derived from the SDR data and published as private registered provider social housing stock in England are considered by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority’s regulatory arm – the Office for Statistics Regulation – to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and are considered a national statistic. For more information see the data quality and methodology note.

The responsible statistician for this statistical release was Amanda Hall. The lead official was Will Perry.

These statistics are based on data from the SDR. This return collects data on stock size, types, location and rents at 31 March each year, and data on sales and acquisitions made between 1 April and 31 March. Description

This statistical release presents the Accredited Official Statistics on the stock owned by local authority registered providers in England on 31 March 2024. Based on data from the Regulator of Social Housing’s Local Authority Data Return (LADR) it provides details of local authority registered provider (LARP) owned stock and details rents reported for low cost rental stock (social and Affordable Rents).

The release comprises a briefing note, a dynamic look-up tool (Excel based) allowing users to view details of stock in individual local authority areas and regions, additional data tables, raw data from the LADR and technical documentation.

The statistics derived from the LADR data and published as local authority registered provider social housing stock and rents in England are considered by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority’s regulatory arm – the Office for Statistics Regulation – to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and are considered an Accredited Official Statistic. For more information see the data quality and methodology note.

The responsible statistician for this statistical release was Amanda Hall. The lead official was Will Perry.

These statistics are based on data from the LADR. This return, which was collected by the RSH for the first time in 2020, collects data on stock size, types, location and rents as at 31 March. All registered Local Authority providers of social housing in England are required to complete the LADR, providing the regulator with data on stock and rent levels in order that it may regulate social housing rents.

Prior to 2020 the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), published similar statistics on stock and rents for Local Authorities based on data collected through their Local Authority Housing Statistic. The differences in collection methodology between the LADR and LAHS and the statistical methodology employed between MHCLG and RSH statistical releases are explored in detail in the technical notes.
