On 1 April 2025 responsibility for fire and rescue transferred from the Home Office to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
This information covers fires, false alarms and other incidents attended by fire crews, and the statistics include the numbers of incidents, fires, fatalities and casualties as well as information on response times to fires. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) also collect information on the workforce, fire prevention work, health and safety and firefighter pensions. All data tables on fire statistics are below.
MHCLG has responsibility for fire services in England. The vast majority of data tables produced by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are for England but some (0101, 0103, 0201, 0501, 1401) tables are for Great Britain split by nation. In the past the Department for Communities and Local Government (who previously had responsibility for fire services in England) produced data tables for Great Britain and at times the UK. The number of Instagram users in the United Kingdom was forecast to continuously increase between 2024 and 2028 by in total 2.1 million users (+7.02 percent). After the ninth consecutive increasing year, the Instagram user base is estimated to reach 32 million users and therefore a new peak in 2028. Notably, the number of Instagram users of was continuously increasing over the past years.User figures, shown here with regards to the platform instagram, have been estimated by taking into account company filings or press material, secondary research, app downloads and traffic data. They refer to the average monthly active users over the period and count multiple accounts by persons only once. The shown data are an excerpt of Statista's Key Market Indicators (KMI). The KMI are a collection of primary and secondary indicators on the macro-economic, demographic and technological environment in up to 150 countries and regions worldwide. All indicators are sourced from international and national statistical offices, trade associations and the trade press and they are processed to generate comparable data sets (see supplementary notes under details for more information).
These datasets present annual land and crop areas, livestock populations and agricultural workforce estimates broken down by farm type, size and region. More detailed geographical breakdowns and maps are updated every 3 to 4 years when a larger sample supports the increased level of detail. Longer term comparisons are available via links in the Historical timeseries section at the bottom of this page.
The results are sourced from the annual June Survey of Agriculture and Horticulture. The survey captures data at the farm holding level (historically based on individual farm locations) so most data is presented on this basis. Multiple farm holdings can be owned by a single farm business, so the number of farm holdings has also been aggregated to farm businesses level as a way of estimating the number of overall farming enterprises for England only.
Key land use & crop areas, livestock populations and agricultural workforce on individual farm holdings in England broken down by farm type or farm size bands and for the UK broken down by farm size bands.
Number of farm businesses by farm business type and region in England. Individual farm holdings are aggregated to a business level. In most cases, a farm business is made up of a single farm holding, but some businesses are responsible for multiple farm holdings, often in different locations.
Key land use & crop areas, livestock populations and agricultural workforce on individual farm holdings in England broken down by various geographical boundaries.
The Local Authority dataset was re-published on 15th April 2025 to correct an error with the 2024 data.

The data was gathered by over 1000 surveyors mainly between the years 1999 and 2003 from both coastal and inland colonies. EngDescr=The main objectives of the survey were: (1) to obtain distribution and population information for all 25 species of seabird that regularly breed in the UK; and (2) to get baseline figures for those species that have been surveyed poorly up to now.
To meet these objectives a set of count sections were set up throughout Britain and Ireland and counts were made for all species.
The dataset comprises detailed counts of seabirds together with: habitat information, predator information, count units, weather conditions on the day of the count.
The spatial coverage was dependent on species with colonial nesting seabirds having virtually complete coverage; whereas, other species, notably some gull species having much less coverage.

Accessible Tables and Improved Quality
As part of the Analysis Function Reproducible Analytical Pipeline Strategy, processes to create all National Travel Survey (NTS) statistics tables have been improved to follow the principles of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAP). This has resulted in improved efficiency and quality of NTS tables and therefore some historical estimates have seen very minor change, at least the fifth decimal place.
All NTS tables have also been redesigned in an accessible format where they can be used by as many people as possible, including people with an impaired vision, motor difficulties, cognitive impairments or learning disabilities and deafness or impaired hearing.
If you wish to provide feedback on these changes then please email national.travelsurvey@dft.gov.uk.
Revision to table NTS9919
On the 16th April 2025, the figures in table NTS9919 have been revised and recalculated to include only day 1 of the travel diary where short walks of less than a mile are recorded (from 2017 onwards), whereas previous versions included all days. This is to more accurately capture the proportion of trips which include short walks before a surface rail stage. This revision has resulted in fewer available breakdowns than previously published due to the smaller sample sizes.
