The gross domestic product (GDP) of all G7 countries decreased sharply in 2009 and 2020 due to the financial crisis and COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. The growth decline was heavier after the COVID-19 pandemic than the financial crisis. Moreover, Italy had a negative GDP growth rate in 2012 and 2013 following the euro crisis. In 2023, Germany experienced an economic recession.

Official statistics are produced impartially and free from political influence.
The United States has had the highest economic growth in the G7 since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with its economy *** percent larger in the first quarter of 2023, when compared with the fourth quarter of 2019. On 23 March 2021, Cornwall Council (“the applicant”) made a formal application to the Marine Management Organisation (“MMO”) under Section 14 of the Harbours Act 1964 for the St Ives (G7 Summit 2021) Harbour Revision Order 2021 (“the HRO”).
The 47th G7 Summit will be held at the Carbis Bay Hotel, near Hayle, Cornwall, with the event itself due to take place from 11 to 13 June 2021. The G7 is a forum where world leaders come together to discuss global matters. It is made up of the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA with the EU participating in discussions as a guest. Leaders from Australia, India and South Korea have also been invited to attend the 47th G7 Summit as guest countries.
The HRO grants the applicant a temporary extension to the harbour limits of St Ives harbour to cover the whole of St Ives Bay (excluding Hayle Harbour’s jurisdiction), and grants the applicant with powers of general direction for the duration of the G7 period (7 June 2021 until 15 June 2021).
The HRO also contains a saving provision allowing any proceedings started under the temporary powers to continue after the temporary powers cease to have effect.
More information about the proposals can be viewed in the Statement in Support, the HRO and the deposited plan, above on this page.
The MMO approved the making of the Order on 11 May 2021, details of the decision-making process can be viewed in St Ives (G7 Summit 2021) Harbour Revision Order decision document.
The Order will be laid before parliament on 14 May 2021 and will come into force on 7 June 2021.

The US and UK have signed a trade agreement reducing tariffs on British auto and aerospace imports, promising economic benefits while steel tariff discussions continue.
Science, engineering and technology (SET) statistics aim to:
provide a historical analysis of the government financing of SET activities in the UK
describe the relationship between the funders and performers of Research and Development (R&D) in the UK (government, higher education, business enterprise, charities and overseas)
report on business enterprise R&D expenditure
summarise key data on output and employment of science graduates and postgraduates, and other employment data
show how the UK compares with other G7 countries
The UK is the first G7 country to commit to the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) for contracts administered by a central purchasing authority, the Crown Commercial Service (CCS). This means that the whole process of awarding public sector contracts will be visible to the public for the first time.
Open contracting means all data and documents are disclosed at all stages of the contracting process. This supports organisations to increase contracting transparency, and allows deeper analysis of contracting data by a wide range of users.
Working with the Open Contracting Partnership we have published our review of the UK Showcase and Learning project in the form of a Measurement, Evaluation and Learning Framework. This sets out the impact of our implementation from a baseline date of May 2016 to November 2017 (unless otherwise specified). An earlier digest of our progress is available online.
OCDS outputs are available for both Find a Tender and Contracts Finder.
You can download https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/" class="govuk-link">Find a Tender notices in OCDS JSON format using our application programming interface (API). Notice fields are mapped to OCDS version 1.1.5 with extensions as defined by the https://standard.open-contracting.org/profiles/eu/master/en/" class="govuk-link">Open Contracting Partnership.
The same notice data is also available to download from the data.gov.uk website or using their API. Daily Zip files contain an XML file for each notice published on that day.

Our Contracts Finder output is based v1.0 of the OCDS standard, with some enhancements from on v1.1. We plan to update to be fully compliant with v1.1 in the future.
Of the G7 countries, Japan had the highest net debt in terms of share of gross domestic product (GDP) between 2010 and 2024. This family of proteins includes orphan receptors that are part of the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family, specifically within the Adhesion G-protein coupled receptor (ADGR) subfamily. These receptors are characterized by their seven transmembrane domains, typical of G-protein coupled receptors, and are involved in cell adhesion processes. The exact physiological roles of these orphan receptors are not well-defined due to the lack of identified endogenous ligands. However, they are believed to play roles in various biological processes through interactions with other cell surface proteins, extracellular matrix components, or by sensing mechanical changes in the environment.

During the Great Recession of 2008-2009, the advanced economies of the G7 experienced a period of acute financial crises, downturns in the non-financial economy, and political instability. The governments of these countries in many cases stepped in to backstop their financial sectors and to try to stimulate their economies. The scale of these interventions was large by historical standards, with observers making comparisons to the measures of the New Deal which the U.S. undertook in the 1930s to end the Great Depression.
The bailouts of financial institutions and stimulus packages caused the government debt ratios of the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan in particular to rise sharply. The UK's government debt ratio almost doubled due to the bailouts of Northern Rock and Royal Bank of Scotland. On the other hand, the increases in government debt in the Eurozone were more measured, due to the comparative absence of stimulus spending in these countries. They would later be hit hard during the Eurozone crisis of the 2010s, when bank lending to the periphery of the Eurozone (Portugal, Spain, Ireland and Greece in particular) would trigger a sovereign debt crisis. The Canadian government, led by a Conservative premier, engaged in some fiscal stimulus to support its economy, but these packages were small in comparison to that in most other of the G7 countries.
