The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of Fort Union National Monument and Vicinity, New Mexico is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (foun_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (foun_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (foun_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) This feature service is available through CT ECO, a partnership between UConn CLEAR and CT DEEP. It is also available as a map service and a tiled map service. This dataset is a statewide service of municipal parcels (properties) including their geometry (polygon shape) and attributes (tabular information about each parcel). The automated feature extraction workflow used a Geographic Object-Oriented Image Analysis (GEOBIA) framework to extract the three impervious classes from the source datasets which include digital imagery, LiDAR point clouds and several vector data sets including Land use/land cover, road centerlines and hydrographic features, using a rule-based expert system.

This GIS data layer contains all the locatable oil-and-gas wells in Ohio. The feature is derived from coordinates obtained from the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management (DOGRM) oil and gas well database – Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS). The RBDMS database has a long history and is a comprehensive collection of well data from historic pre-1980 paper well records (digitized by the Division of Geological Survey (DGS)) to post-1980 DOGRM database solutions.Since 1860, it is estimated that more than 267,000 oil-and-gas wells have been drilled in Ohio. The compressed file also includes a feature used to connect the surface location to the bottom location of a well that has been drilled directionally or horizontally. The State Lands Commission has prepared the Significant Lands Inventory (report) for the California Legislature as a general identification and classification of those unconveyed State school lands and tide and submerged lands which possess significant environmental values. The publication incorporates evaluated and pertinent comments received on the initial draft report which was circulated statewide in February 1975.The absence of a particular digitized waterway in the dataset does not mean that the State does not claim ownership of that parcel or waterway, or that such specific parcel or waterway has no significant environmental values. This dataset is not intended to establish ownership, only to identify those parcels which possess significant environmental values. Staff was unable to physically inventory all of the considered lands; instead, the advice and participation of those with known environmental expertise was utilized as additional to staff survey.Tide and submerged lands are digitized in the WaterBody and WaterLine feature classes; WaterLines for coastal areas, WaterBody for inland areas. Tide and submerged lands under the jurisdiction of the State Lands Commission are those sovereign lands received from the Federal Government by virtue of California's admission to the Union on an equal footing with the original States. Such lands, and State interest therein, are generally the lands waterward of the ordinary high water mark of the Pacific Ocean (seaward to a three-mile limit); tidal bays, sloughs, estuaries; and, navigable lakes and streams within the State.School Lands are digitized in the SchoolLand feature class. State school lands under the jurisdiction of the Commission are largely composed of the 16th and 36th sections of each township. The Federal Government transferred these lands to the State in 1853, in order to establish a financial foundation for a public school system. In cases where the 16th and 36th sections were mineral in character, incomplete as to acreage total, or already claimed or granted by the Federal Government, the State was permitted to select other lands "in lieu" of the specific sections.The public trust of commerce, navigation and fisheries which the State retains on patented sovereign lands should also be considered included in this inventory. Wherever a waterway, or body of water, is listed or mapped, the common trust state interest in patented sovereign lands, if any, is also included.The State Lands Commission emphasized when it adopted this report at its December 1, 1975 meeting that all tide and submerged lands are significant by the nature of their public ownership. Only because of the methodology used for this report are all of these waterways not specifically listed in this inventory.It is the intent of the State Lands Commission that the Significant Lands Inventory be periodically updated. This dataset should be considered informational, to assist the Legislature, the Commission, and the public in considering the environmental aspects of a proposed project and the significant values to be protected therein.

The geographic information system (GIS) is based on the first and only Russian Imperial Census of 1897 and the First All-Union Census of the Soviet Union of 1926. The GIS features vector data (shapefiles) of allprovinces of the two states. For the 1897 census, there is information about linguistic, religious, and social estate groups. The part based on the 1926 census features nationality. Both shapefiles include information on gender, rural and urban population. The GIS allows for producing any necessary maps for individual studies of the period which require the administrative boundaries and demographic information.

Digital Elevation Models (DEM) are widely used to derive information for the modeling of hydrologic processes. The basic model for hydrologic terrain analysis involving hydrologic conditioning, determination of flow field (flow directions) and derivation of hydrologic derivatives is available in multiple software packages and GIS systems. However as areas of interest for terrain analysis have increased and DEM resolutions become finer there remain challenges related to data size, software and a platform to run it on, as well as opportunities to derive new kinds of information useful for hydrologic modeling. This presentation will illustrate new functionality associated with the TauDEM software (http://hydrology.usu.edu/taudem) and new web based deployments of TauDEM to make this capability more accessible and easier to use. Height Above Nearest Drainage (HAND) is a special case of distance down the flow field to an arbitrary target, with the target being a stream and distance measured vertically. HAND is one example of a general class of hydrologic proximity measures available in TauDEM. As we have implemented it, HAND uses multi-directional flow directions derived from a digital elevation model (DEM) using the Dinifinity method in TauDEM to determine the height of each grid cell above the nearest stream along the flow path from that cell to the stream. With this information, and the depth of flow in the stream, the potential for, and depth of flood inundation can be determined. Furthermore, by dividing streams into reaches or segments, the area draining to each reach can be isolated and a series of threshold depths applied to the grid of HAND values in that isolated reach catchment, to determine inundation volume, surface area and wetted bed area. Dividing these by length yields reach average cross section area, width, and wetted perimeter, information that is useful for hydraulic routing and stage-discharge rating calculations in hydrologic modeling. This presentation will describe the calculation of HAND and its use to determine hydraulic properties across the US for prediction of stage and flood inundation in each NHDPlus reach modeled by the US NOAA’s National Water Model. This presentation will also describe two web based deployments of TauDEM functionality. The first is within a Jupyter Notebook web application attached to HydroShare that provides users the ability to execute TauDEM on this cloud infrastructure without the limitations associated with desktop software installation and data/computational capacity. The second is a web based rapid watershed delineation function deployed as part of Model My Watershed (https://app.wikiwatershed.org/) that enables delineation of watersheds, based on NHDPlus gridded data anywhere in the continental US for watershed based hydrologic modeling and analysis.

A comprehensive picture, at European Union scale, of the aquifers and their characteristics is available in digital form. In 1982, a study by the European Commission provided a complete catalogue of national water resources for several Member States of the European Union (Belgium, Federal Republic of Germany, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and United Kingdom).
This catalogue comprised a series of groundwater resources maps of Europe, at scale 1:500,000 ; there were 38 map sheets covering four themes:
-Inventory of aquifers; -Hydrogeology of aquifers; -Groundwater abstraction; -Potential additional groundwater resources.
