    This worldwide street map presents highway-level data for the world. Street-level data includes the United States; much of Canada; Mexico; Europe; Japan; Australia and New Zealand; India; South America and Central America; Africa; and most of the Middle East. This comprehensive street map includes highways, major roads, minor roads, one-way arrow indicators, railways, water features, administrative boundaries, cities, parks, and landmarks, overlaid on shaded relief imagery for added context. The map also includes building footprints for selected areas. Coverage is provided down to ~1:4k with ~1:1k and ~1:2k data available in select urban areas. The street map was developed by Esri using Esri basemap data, Garmin basemap layers, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) elevation data, Intact Forest Landscape (IFL) data for the world; HERE data for Europe, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South America and Central America, Africa, India, and most of the Middle East; OpenStreetMap contributors for select countries in Africa and Pacific Islands; NGCC data for China; and select data from the GIS user community.     The North American Roads dataset was compiled on October 27, 2020 from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). This dataset contains geospatial information regarding major roadways in North America. On March 31, 2025, the errant records with a value of 2 in the "NHS" field were corrected to have a value of 7 (Other NHS). The data set covers the 48 contiguous United States plus the District of Columbia, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. The nominal scale of the data set is 1:100,000. The data within the North American Roads layer is a compilation of data from Natural Resources Canada, USDOT’s Federal Highway Administration, and the Mexican Transportation Institute. North American Roads is a digital single-line representation of major roads and highways for Canada, the United States, and Mexico with consistent definitions by road class, jurisdiction, lane counts, speed limits and surface type.

    Description

    This EnviroAtlas dataset describes several metrics related to road-stream crossings and roads near streams at the watershed scale. According to EPA report 600/R-97/130, roads can affect stream water in many ways and roads in close proximity to streams have the most potential for adverse effects on stream water quality. Since roads have an impervious surface, and ditches are built to channel water from roads into streams, the rate of water runoff is higher where there are more roads. Not only does this lead to increased scour of the river channel and stream banks, but it can also be a preferential pathway for runoff associated with road salting or routine maintenance which, along with other spills on the roadway, can lead to overall reductions in water quality. This dataset was produced the US EPA to support research and online mapping activities related to EnviroAtlas. EnviroAtlas (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas) allows the user to interact with a web-based, easy-to-use, mapping application to view and analyze multiple ecosystem services for the contiguous United States. The dataset is available as downloadable data (https://edg.epa.gov/data/Public/ORD/EnviroAtlas) or as an EnviroAtlas map service.     The USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), created a series of geospatial products of the Scotts Creek Watershed in Lake County, California, using National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery from 2022 and Open Street Map (OSM) from 2019. The imagery was downloaded from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Geospatial Data Gateway (https://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/) and Geofabrik GmbH - Open Street Map (https://www.geofabrik.de/geofabrik/openstreetmap.html), respectively. An updated trail map for the Upper Scotts Creek Watershed, including the BLM Recreational Area, was created to estimate trail densities in the watershed. A preview image of the roads and trail maps is attached to this data release (see UpperScottsCreek_Roads_and_Trails_Map_2022_USGS2022_CC0.png).

    Description

    This open-source alternative mapping service also publishes regular database dumps. We downloaded a full history dump of OSM contributions as of 24 February 2014, restricting this to the North American region as defined by Geofabrik 6 , which consists of the United States, Canada and Greenland. OSM groups individual changes to the map into changesets 7 when an editor saves their work. We used the timestamp of the last revision in a changeset as the time that the user saved the changeset. The resulting dataset (osm, changeset) contains 13,388,923 million changesets from 46,595 distinct users.

    This EnviroAtlas dataset estimates green space along walkable roads. Green space within 25 meters of the road centerline is included and the percentage is based on the total area between street intersections. Green space provides valuable benefits to neighborhood residents and walkers by providing shade, improved aesthetics, and outdoor gathering spaces. This dataset was produced by the US EPA to support research and online mapping activities related to EnviroAtlas.     The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national filewith no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independentdata set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Primary roads are generally divided, limited-access highways within the interstate highway system or under State management, and are distinguished by the presence of interchanges.     Description

    Tunnels in the United States According to the HSIP Tiger Team Report, a tunnel is defined as a linear underground passageway open at both ends. This dataset is based on the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Bridge Inventory (NBI). Records in the NBI that are attributed as 'Tunnels' were extracted by TGS and were located using a combination of ortho imagery, topographic DRGs, NAVTEQ streets, and NAVTEQ railroads. Two points were captured for each tunnel, one at each tunnel opening. A line was then created either by tracing the NAVTEQ street / railroad, or, if there was not a NAVTEQ street / railroad coincident with the tunnel, then by a straight line joining the two points. For some tunnels, the NBI contains two records, one for the road through the tunnel and one for the road on top of the tunnel (if any). In these cases, both have been captured in this dataset. Features in this dataset that are over tunnels have a [RECTYPE] of '1', while features that are in tunnels have a [RECTYPE] of '2'. Presumably, this was done because both roads could be blocked if the tunnel was destroyed. In some cases, the NBI only represented a tunnel with a record of type = '1' (over). In these cases, the following rules were applied1) If there was no road running through the tunnel, the road on top of the tunnel was captured. For example, if a mine conveyor runs through the tunnel and a county highway runs on top of the tunnel, the county highway was captured. 2) If a road ran through the tunnel, then this road was captured and the [RECTYPE] was changed to '2'. The 'feature carried' and 'feature intersected' fields were also changed to be consistent with the feature actually captured. According to the U.S. DOT'Our reporting requirements do not extend to tunnels, therefore, any info we have should be considered incomplete.'

    Connecticut Roads and Trails is 1:24,000-scale base map data. It depicts the location of all roads and trails published on the USGS topographic quadrangle maps. For base map purposes, use this layer with other 1:24,000-scale base map data such as Hydrography, Railroads, Airports, and Towns. The Roads and Trails layer includes information within Connecticut and is derived from the Roads and Trails Master layer, which includes all road and trail features depicted on all of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5 minute topographic quadrangle maps that cover the State of Connecticut. This layer may be used as a possible data source for other 1:24,000-scale layers having features that should coincide with the roads and trails on the USGS topographic quadrangle maps. Not intended for maps printed at map scales greater or more detailed than 1:24,000 scale (1 inch = 2,000 feet.)

    Connecticut Roads and Trails is a 1:24,000-scale, feature-based layer that includes road and trail features on the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5 minute topographic quadrangle maps for the State of Connecticut. This layer only includes features located in Connecticut. The layer is based on information from USGS topographic quadrangle maps published between 1969 and 1984 and does not represent the road network in Connecticut at any one particular point in time. The layer does not depict current conditions and excludes many roads that have been built, modified, or removed since the time these topographic quadrangle maps were published. The layer includes Interstate highways, US routes, state routes, local roads, unpaved roads, traffic circles, bridges, cul-de-sacs, trails, etc. It does not include route number, street name, house address, traffic direction, or traffic volume information for these features. Nor does it represent a complete or current network of hiking trails. Features are linear and represent road centerlines. Attribute information is comprised of codes to cartographically represent (symbolize) road and trail features on a map. This layer was originally published in 1994. The 2005 edition includes the same road features published in 1994, but the attribute information has been slightly modified and made easier to use.

    A custom basemap created for internal Connecticut Department of Transportation in web apps and maps.The basemap represents the most recent and active Public Road Network as maintained by the Bureau of Policy & Planning's Roadway Inventory Unit and is updated on an annual basis.Map styling mimics the format of an Open Street Maps style basemap and routes are differentiated by their prefix (e.g. Interstate, US, CT, etc.) with local roads sharing the same symbiology across the state.At closer zoom levels, ortho imagery from 2023 (provided by CTECO) appears within the map extent.

    Download In State Plane Projection Here. ** The Street Centerline feature class now follows the NG911/State of Illinois data specifications including a StreetNameAlias table. The download hyperlink above also contains a full network topology for use with the Esri Network Analyst extension ** These street centerlines were developed for a myriad of uses including E-911, as a cartographic base, and for use in spatial analysis. This coverage should include all public and selected private roads within Lake County, Illinois. Roads are initially entered using recorded documents and then later adjusted using current aerial photography. This dataset should satisfy National Map Accuracy Standards for a 1:1200 product. These centerlines have been provided to the United States Census Bureau and were used to conflate the TIGER road features for Lake County. The Census Bureau evaluated these centerlines and, based on field survey of 109 intersections, determined that there is a 95% confidence level that the coordinate positions in the centerline dataset fall within 1.9 meters of their true ground position. The fields PRE_DIR, ST_NAME, ST_TYPE and SUF_DIR are formatted according to United States Postal Service standards. Update Frequency: This dataset is updated on a weekly basis.

Description

This worldwide street map presents highway-level data for the world. Street-level data includes the United States; much of Canada; Mexico; Europe; Japan; Australia and New Zealand; India; South America and Central America; Africa; and most of the Middle East. This comprehensive street map includes highways, major roads, minor roads, one-way arrow indicators, railways, water features, administrative boundaries, cities, parks, and landmarks, overlaid on shaded relief imagery for added context. The map also includes building footprints for selected areas. Coverage is provided down to ~1:4k with ~1:1k and ~1:2k data available in select urban areas. The street map was developed by Esri using Esri basemap data, Garmin basemap layers, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) elevation data, Intact Forest Landscape (IFL) data for the world; HERE data for Europe, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South America and Central America, Africa, India, and most of the Middle East; OpenStreetMap contributors for select countries in Africa and Pacific Islands; NGCC data for China; and select data from the GIS user community.
