The Atlas of Canada Base Maps provide coverage of the entire Canadian landmass. Data elements are feature coded and structurally clean. Base map components are available in five scales and a number of data exchange formats. The 1:2 million and 1:7.5 million scales are the primary bases for all Atlas products. The 1:30 million scale data have been generalized from the two larger scales. The data set covers: drainage (coastlines, rivers, lakes), boundaries (federal, provincial, district, dividing lines), transportation (primary and secondary highways, selected ferry routes, rail networks), populated places, national parks. Atlas information is two-dimensional layered vector data.

    Description

This cartographic digital product is derived from the Atlas of Canada's wall map "The World" (MCR 0046) and "Le monde" (MCR 0046F) published in 2021. The World is a general reference political map focused on the names and international boundaries of sovereign and non-sovereign countries. The information is portrayed using the Winkel II projection at a scale of 1:29 000 000. The dataset includes international boundaries, populated places, and labelled major hydrographic and physical features. In the geodatabase the representation of political boundaries do not necessarily reflect the position of the Government of Canada on all international issues of recognition, sovereignty or jurisdiction; some of the populated places have seasonal populations, while others are research or military bases with no permanent populations; and, there are no attribute information in the geodatabase for the labelled hydrographic and physical features.

These data were compiled as a supplement to a previously published journal article (Bradford et al., 2019), that employed a ecosystem water balance model to characterize current and future patterns in soil temperature and moisture conditions in dryland areas of western North America. Also, these data are associated with a published USGS data release (Bradford and Schlaepfer, 2019). The objectives of our study were to (1) characterize current and future patterns in soil temperature and moisture conditions in dryland areas of western North America, (2) evaluate the impact of these changes on estimation of resilience and resistance among a representative set of climate scenarios. These data represent geographic patterns in simulated soil temperature and soil moisture conditions and underlying variables based on SOILWAT2 simulations under climate conditions representing historical (current) time period (1980-2010) and two future projected time periods (2020-2050, d40yrs) and (2070-21 ...

    Description

Data presented here include a shapefile that combines fault data for the United States and Canada (Chorlton, 2007; Reed and others, 2005; Styron and Pagani, 2020) and a shapefile of faults for Australia (Chorlton, 2007; Raymond and others, 2012; Styron and Pagani, 2020). These two shapefiles were used as an evidential layer to evaluate the mineral prospectivity for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposits (Lawley and others, 2022).
