The Georgia Department of Community Affairs, originally in conjunction with the the State's 16 Regional Development Centers (1995- 2009), and now with the State's 12 Regional Commissions, have compiled an extensive, statewide GIS base map, originally containing 27 types of GPS-located community facilities. The collection now contains other types and facilties geolocated by use of address geocoding to street block face as well as on-entity point placement using orthophotography. The Georgia Community Facilities base map includes city halls, courthouses, sheriffs' offices, marshalls' office, police stations, fire stations, city jails, county jails, county correctional facilities, state prisons, federal penitentiaries, public and private universities, public and private 4-year colleges, public and private 2-year colleges, public vocational technical schools, public schools, some private schools, airports, hospitals, libraries, water systems, and wastewater treatment plants. Some types, including those related to law enforncement, colleges, correctional institutions, hospitals, and fire were provided to and updated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before being added back into the database by DCA. Those maps retain their separate DHS (TGS) metadata.Attributes:FACNAME = Name of the facilityFACTYPE = Type of facilityADDRESS_1 = Street address of the facilityADDRESS_2 = Additional address informationCITY = City that the facility is located withinSTATE = State that the facility is located withinZIP = 5-digit postal ZIP code of the facilityAREACODE = Telephone area code for the facilityPHONE = 7-digit telephone number for the facilityCONTACT = Contact person for the facilityTITLE = Title of the contact person for the facilityFIPS = FIPS code for the facilityTYPE = Type of facilityNAME = Name of the county that the facility is located withinMETHOD = Method that was used to locate the facilityupdated = Date that the facility data was last updatedSource: Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Atlanta Regional CommissionDate: 2009For additional information, please visit the Atlanta Regional Commission at www.atlantaregional.com

This dataset, released by DoD, contains geographic information for major installations, ranges, and training areas in the United States and its territories. This release integrates site information about DoD installations, training ranges, and land assets in a format which can be immediately put to work in commercial geospatial information systems. Homeland Security/Homeland Defense, law enforcement, and readiness planners will benefit from immediate access to DoD site location data during emergencies. Land use planning and renewable energy planning will also benefit from use of this data. Users are advised that the point and boundary location datasets are intended for planning purposes only, and do not represent the legal or surveyed land parcel boundaries.
