This dataset is composed of GIS data layers, Geologic Point Features (Sensitive) (CANYGPF_SENSITIVE), Mine Point Features (Sensitive) (CANYMIN_SENSITIVE), Mine Area Feature Boundaries (Sensitive) (CANYMAFA_SENSITIVE), Mine Area Features (Sensitive) (CANYMAF_SENSITIVE) and Hazard Point Features (Sensitive) (CANYHZP_SENSITIVE), deemed has sensitive data, and therefore should not be distributed outside the NPS or to non-approved users. This sensitive GIS Data is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) an ESRI file geodatabase (cany_geology_sensitive.gdb). The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (cany_geology_sensitive.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), and 2.) a Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage. Upon request, the sensitive GIS data is also available in ESRI shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara at stephanie_o'meara@partner.nps.gov (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in shapefile format. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) a readme file (cany_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (cany_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (cany_geology_metadata_faq_sensitive.pdf).     This image service is part of a collection of maps for PGA, PGV and spectral accelerations at 0.2 s (SA02), 1.0 s (SA10), and 2.0 s (SA20) to illustrate seismic hazards in California. For each ground motion parameter, maps at two different hazard levels were presented: one with a 2% probability of being exceeded in 50 years (equivalent to 2,475-year recurrence interval) and the other with 10% probability of being exceeded in 50 years (equivalent to 475-year recurrence interval). The ArcGIS Online interface allows users to select any two ground motion hazard maps to compare side by side. Ground motion parameters were calculated using the 2023 update of the U.S. Geological Survey National Seismic Hazard Model. See the “Scientific Background” on MS48 webpage for detailed information.Due to software limitations, symbology cannot be added to this service.     Description

    Vector datasets of CWHR range maps are one component of California Wildlife Habitat Relationships (CWHR), a comprehensive information system and predictive model for Californias wildlife. The CWHR System was developed to support habitat conservation and management, land use planning, impact assessment, education, and research involving terrestrial vertebrates in California. CWHR contains information on life history, management status, geographic distribution, and habitat relationships for wildlife species known to occur regularly in California. Range maps represent the maximum, current geographic extent of each species within California. They were originally delineated at a scale of 1:5,000,000 by species-level experts and have gradually been revised at a scale of 1:1,000,000.     The Digital Bedrock Geologic-GIS Map of Weir Farm National Historical Park and Vicinity, Connecticut is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (wefa_bedrock_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (wefa_bedrock_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (wefa_bedrock_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) A GIS readme file (wefa_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (wefa_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (wefa_bedrock_geology_metadata_faq.pdf). Please read the wefa_geology_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the GIS data and other map files. Google Earth software is available for free at: https://www.google.com/earth/versions/. QGIS software is available for free at: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/.     The USGS Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) is the nation's inventory of protected areas, including public open space and voluntarily provided, private protected areas, identified as an A-16 National Geospatial Data Asset in the Cadastral Theme (http://www.fgdc.gov/ngda-reports/NGDA_Datasets.html). PAD-US is an ongoing project with several published versions of a spatial database of areas dedicated to the preservation of biological diversity, and other natural, recreational or cultural uses, managed for these purposes through legal or other effective means. The geodatabase maps and describes public open space and other protected areas. Most areas are public lands owned in fee; however, long-term easements, leases, and agreements or administrative designations documented in agency management plans may be included. The PAD-US database strives to be a complete “best available” inventory of protected areas (lands and waters) including data provided by managing agencies and organizations. The dataset is built in collaboration with several partners and data providers (http://gapanalysis.usgs.gov/padus/stewards/). See Supplemental Information Section of this metadata record for more information on partnerships and links to major partner organizations. As this dataset is a compilation of many data sets; data completeness, accuracy, and scale may vary. Federal and state data are generally complete, while local government and private protected area coverage is about 50% complete, and depends on data management capacity in the state. For completeness estimates by state: http://www.protectedlands.net/partners. As the federal and state data are reasonably complete; focus is shifting to completing the inventory of local gov and voluntarily provided, private protected areas. The PAD-US geodatabase contains over twenty-five attributes and four feature classes to support data management, queries, web mapping services and analyses: Marine Protected Areas (MPA), Fee, Easements and Combined. The data contained in the MPA Feature class are provided directly by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Protected Areas Center (MPA, http://marineprotectedareas.noaa.gov ) tracking the National Marine Protected Areas System. The Easements feature class contains data provided directly from the National Conservation Easement Database (NCED, http://conservationeasement.us ) The MPA and Easement feature classes contain some attributes unique to the sole source databases tracking them (e.g. Easement Holder Name from NCED, Protection Level from NOAA MPA Inventory). The "Combined" feature class integrates all fee, easement and MPA features as the best available national inventory of protected areas in the standard PAD-US framework. In addition to geographic boundaries, PAD-US describes the protection mechanism category (e.g. fee, easement, designation, other), owner and managing agency, designation type, unit name, area, public access and state name in a suite of standardized fields. An informative set of references (i.e. Aggregator Source, GIS Source, GIS Source Date) and "local" or source data fields provide a transparent link between standardized PAD-US fields and information from authoritative data sources. The areas in PAD-US are also assigned conservation measures that assess management intent to permanently protect biological diversity: the nationally relevant "GAP Status Code" and global "IUCN Category" standard. A wealth of attributes facilitates a wide variety of data analyses and creates a context for data to be used at local, regional, state, national and international scales.     This is series-level metadata for the USGS Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) data released by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). PAD-US is the nation's inventory of protected areas, including public land and voluntarily provided private protected areas. Starting with version 1.4 PAD-US was identified as an A-16 National Geospatial Data Asset in the Cadastre Theme ( https://ngda-cadastre-geoplatform.hub.arcgis.com/ ). The PAD-US is an ongoing project with several published versions of a spatial database including areas dedicated to the preservation of biological diversity, and other natural (including extraction), recreational, or cultural uses, managed for these purposes through legal or other effective means. The database was originally designed to support biodiversity assessments; however, its scope expanded in recent years to include all open space public and nonprofit lands and waters. Most are public lands owned in fee (the owner of the property has full and irrevocable ownership of the land); however, permanent and long-term easements, leases, agreements, Congressional (e.g. 'Wilderness Area'), Executive (e.g. 'National Monument'), and administrative designations (e.g. 'Area of Critical Environmental Concern') documented in agency management plans are also included. The PAD-US strives to be a complete inventory of U.S. public land and other protected areas, compiling "best available" data provided by managing agencies and organizations. The PAD-US geodatabase maps and describes areas using thirty-six attributes and five separate feature classes representing the U.S. protected areas network: Fee (ownership parcels), Designation, Easement, Marine, Proclamation and Other Planning Boundaries. An additional Combined feature class includes the full PAD-US inventory to support data management, queries, web mapping services, and analyses. The Feature Class (FeatClass) field in the Combined layer allows users to extract data types as needed. A Federal Data Reference file geodatabase lookup table facilitates the extraction of authoritative federal data provided or recommended by managing agencies from the Combined PAD-US inventory.     Supermarkets are one of the most popular and convenient ways in which Americans gain access to healthy food, such as fresh meat and fish, or fresh fruits and vegetables. There are various ways in which people gain access to supermarkets. People in the suburbs drive to supermarkets and load up the car with many bags of food. People in cities depend much more on walking to the local store, or taking a bus or train.This map came about after asking a simple question: how many Americans live within a reasonable walk or drive to a supermarket?In this case, "reasonable" was defined as a 10 minute drive, or a 1 mile walk. The ArcGIS Network Analyst extension performed the calculations on NAVTEQ streets, and the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension created a heat map of the walkable access and drivable access to supermarkets.The green dots represent populations in poverty who live within one mile of a supermarket. The red dots represent populations in poverty who live beyond a one mile walk to a supermarket, but may live within a 10 minute drive...assuming they have access to a car. The grey dots represent the total population in a given area.This is an excellent map to use as backdrop to show how people are improving access to healthy food in their community. Open this map in ArcGIS Explorer to add your favorite farmers' market, CSA, or transit line -- then share that map via Facebook, Twitter or email.This map shows data for the entire U.S. The supermarkets included in the analysis have annual sales of $1 million or more. Populations in poverty are represented by taking the block group poverty rate (e.g. 10%) from the Census and symbolizing each block in that block group based on that percentage.
