    Description

In 2024, 34.59 percent of all households in the United States were two person households. In 1970, this figure was at 28.92 percent. Single households Single mother households are usually the most common households with children under 18 years old found in the United States. As of 2021, the District of Columbia and North Dakota had the highest share of single-person households in the United States. Household size in the United States has decreased over the past century, due to customs and traditions changing. Families are typically more nuclear, whereas in the past, multigenerational households were more common. Furthermore, fertility rates have also decreased, meaning that women do not have as many children as they used to. Average households in Utah Out of all states in the U.S., Utah was reported to have the largest average household size. This predominately Mormon state has about three million inhabitants. The Church of the Latter-Day Saints, or Mormonism, plays a large role in Utah, and can contribute to the high birth rate and household size in Utah. The Church of Latter-Day Saints promotes having many children and tight-knit families. Furthermore, Utah has a relatively young population, due to Mormons typically marrying and starting large families younger than those in other states.

    Description

As of 2016, the top U.S. hospital for child birth is Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. All hospitals are required, by law, to report and provide access to birth records through the federal National Vital Statistics system. The U.S. system of reporting births (and deaths) is funded by individual States as well as through the National Center for Health Statistics.

    Georgia birth data

Georgia is one of the most populous states in the United States. The metropolitan area with the highest birth rate in the U.S. was Hinesville, Georgia. Hinesville is located in the south eastern section of the state of Georgia. Despite having the hospital that delivers the most babies in the U.S., Georgia does not have one of highest birth rates in the U.S. As of 2017, Utah had the highest birth rate in the United States.

    Birth-related developments

The number of U.S. births has remained relatively stable since 1990. Despite having a relatively stable birth rate, the number bassinet available in U.S. hospitals is on the decline. Birth rates, however, show variation among different U.S. populations. Mothers of American Indian or Alaska Native descent tend to have higher birth rates than other ethnicities.

Population 2100 Baseline Scenario Colorado Plateau
    Description

Future county population was based on projections for 2100 from the Spatially Explicit Regional Growth Model (SERGoM; Theobald 2005). SERGoM simulates population based on existing patterns of growth by census block, groundwater well and road density, and transportation distance to urban areas, while constraining the pattern of development to areas outside of protected areas and urban areas (Theobald 2005). The dataset here is a projection for a “baseline” growth scenario that assumes a similar trajectory to that of current urban growth (Bierwagen et al. 2010). SERGoM accuracy is estimated as 79–99% when compared to 1990 and 2000 census data, with the accuracy varying by urban/exurban/rural categories and increasing slightly with coarser resolution (Theobald 2005). The accuracy of future model predictions with different economic scenarios is most sensitive to fertility rates, which are subject to cultural change, economic recessions, and the current pattern of lands protected from development (Bierwagen et al. 2010). Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2018-2022 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) male population, (b) female population and (b) total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the age groups. For age groups we divided it into roughly a 5 year bucket for ages between 0 and 85. For over 85, we aggregated data into a single group for all ages. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the data for the Utah County, UT population pyramid, which represents the Utah County population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2018-2022 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups. Higher numbers at the bottom of the table suggest population growth, whereas higher numbers at the top indicate declining birth rates. Furthermore, the dataset can be utilized to understand the youth dependency ratio, old-age dependency ratio, total dependency ratio, and potential support ratio.

    Key observations

    • Youth dependency ratio, which is the number of children aged 0-14 per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Utah County, UT, is 41.0.
    • Old-age dependency ratio, which is the number of persons aged 65 or over per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Utah County, UT, is 11.8.
    • Total dependency ratio for Utah County, UT is 52.9.
    • Potential support ratio, which is the number of youth (working age population) per elderly, for Utah County, UT is 8.5.
