This is the latest version of the Global VAR (GVAR) dataset - a global modelling framework for analyzing the international macroeconomic transmission of shocks while accounting for drivers of economic activity, interlinkages and spillovers between different countries, and the effects of unobserved or observed common factors. This dataset includes quarterly macroeconomic variables for 33 economies (log real GDP, y, the rate of inflation, dp, short-term interest rate, r, long-term interest rate, lr, the log deflated exchange rate, ep, and log real equity prices, eq, as well as quarterly data on commodity prices (oil prices, poil, agricultural raw material, pmat, and metals prices, pmetal), from 1979Q2 to 2023Q3. These 33 countries cover more than 90% of world GDP.

The SAGE-Var program obtained 4 epochs of photometry at 3.6 and 4.5 microns covering the bar of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and the central region of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) in order to probe the variability of extremely red sources missed by variability surveys conducted at shorter wavelengths, and to provide additional epochs of observation for known variables. The 6 total epochs of observations probe infrared variability on 15 different timescales ranging from 20 days to 5 years.

Plasmodium falciparum malaria is a major global health problem that is being targeted for progressive elimination. Knowledge of local disease transmission patterns in endemic countries is critical to these elimination efforts. To investigate fine-scale patterns of malaria transmission, we have compared repertoires of rapidly evolving var genes in a highly endemic area. A total of 3680 high quality DBLα sequences were obtained from 68 P. falciparum isolates from ten villages spread over two distinct catchment areas on the north coast of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Modeling of the extent of var gene diversity in the two parasite populations predicts more than twice as many var gene alleles circulating within each catchment (Mugil=906; Wosera=1094) than previously recognized in PNG (Amele=369). In addition, there were limited levels of var gene sharing between populations, consistent with local parasite population structure. Phylogeographic analyses demonstrate that while neutrally evolving microsatellite markers identified population structure only at the catchment level, var gene repertoires reveal further fine-scale geospatial clustering of parasite isolates. The clustering of parasite isolates by village in Mugil, but not in Wosera was consistent with the physical and cultural isolation of the human populations in the two catchments. The study highlights the micro-heterogeneity of P. falciparum transmission in highly endemic areas and demonstrates the potential of var genes as markers of local patterns of parasite population structure.

Salmonella In Silico Typing Resource (SISTR) commandline tool enables the identification of the Salmonella serovar and cgMLST types of Salmonella from whole genome sequencing (WGS) data tby using a large database (10,000+) of Salmonella genomes and cgMLST profiles based on the 330 alleles. This database is the central part of the SISTR tool and contains both metadata on 2660 serovars and the corresponding antigenic formula, 84463 genomes to serovar mappings, sequences of the O, H1 and H2 antigens, 139729 cgMLST sequences and 38240 profiles with pairwise distances, MASH sketch of the 15465 genomes used for species and serovar identification.
