    Description

The frequency of private passenger auto collision insurance claims for physical damage in the United States dropped sharply in 2020 and remained low in 2021, falling to 4.46 per 100 car years. This compares to 5.96 claims per 100 car years in 2019, and 5.2 claims in 2007. Most likely, the primary reason for this decline was the reduction in traffic due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2022, insurance claims for physical damage in the United States slightly increased to 4.88 per 100 cars.
