    Description

Conservation areas exist to manage and protect the special architectural and historic interest of a place - in other words, the features that make it unique. Every local authority in England has at least one conservation area and there are around 10,000 in England. Most conservation areas are designated by the Council as the local planning authority. In conservation areas there are some extra planning controls and considerations in place to protect the historic and architectural elements which make the place special. Data is updated as necessary when new data is received. Further details are available on our website here - https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/what-is-designation/local/conservation-areas/ PLEASE NOTE that this layer only contains data supplied by LPAs to English Heritage under the LGA/EH Memorandum of Agreement. The dataset may therefore not be complete. Authorities are indicated where no data can be supplied, it is suggested that users contact these authorities individually to request their Conservation Area data.
