    Description

    Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from HUN_GW_Model_v01l. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

The dataset includes text and excel version of two datafiles pertaining to the groundwater monitoring bores and the surface water gauging stations where the model predicts water levels and baseflow estimates respectively. Also included is an excel file which lists the extraction rates used in the modellling for production bores.

    probe_points_plus_extras.xyz GW model output points

no_repeats_with_elevation.txt - points where the groundwater model provides baseflow estimates that are then fed into the river model.

    Purpose

Used to generate shapefiles for the two datasets

    Dataset History

The dataset was created by exporting text files from the groundwater model after calibration and simulation were complete. Text files were converted to excel spreadsheets.

This was created using the preprocess.py script in the "HUN GW Model code v01" acting on the index.xml file contained in the top-level directory of this dataset. The index.xml file contains provenance information for the raw-data (HUN GW Model Mines raw data v01) and tells the preprocessing scripts where to find this raw data. As the groundwater model is successively built using the python scripts, provenance is successively added to the files generated (as headers, or similar data structures). The exception to this is the finite-element mesh (mesh3D/mesh3D.*) which is the main output of the process, and which eventually contains such an enormous amount of provenance that the code suffers from buffer overflows: therefore its provenance is dumped to mesh3D/provenance_dump periodically. As the scripts gradually build the groundwater model, they modify index.xml: it acts as a journal file for model creation, allowing provenance backtracking when using any standard xml viewer. The final MOOSE input files are found in the "simulate" directory, and an example of the final MOOSE output is the "HUN GW Model simulate ua999 pawsey v01" dataset. Dataset History Created using preprocess.py found in the "HUN GW Model code v01" dataset, acting on the index.xml file, and hence using the raw data found in the "HUN GW Model Mines raw data v01" dataset. Description

    Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

    This dataset contains the following:

HUN_GW_modelling_DEM.txt - an xyz textfile of 90m resolution elevations for the Hunter GW modelling domain.

HUN_GW_Model_topography.gdb - an ESRI file geodatabase containing interim rasters used to create the DEM which was exported to the above xyz textfile. The rasters contained are:

1 HUN_GW_Model_Bathy90 - extract from the source bathymetry layer resampled and reprojected to MGA z56 90m

2 HUN_GW_Model_SRTM90 - extract from the source 3sec SRTM layer resampled and reprojected to MGA z56 90m

3 HUN_Offshore_Bathy90 - (1) above clipped to areas where (2) has cellvalue of 0 (ie SRTM offshore area)

    4 HUN_SRTM_Bathy90m_mosaic - (2) with offshore area replaced with (3)

    5 HUN_GW_SRTM_Bathy90m_mosaic - (4) clipped to GW model domain

    Purpose

Input for groundwater modelling for Hunter subregion.

    Dataset History

Rectangular extract (encompassing hunter rectagular extent plus some additional offshore area) of source bathymery and SRTM elevation rasters were resampled and reprojected to congruent 90m cell resolution MGA zone 54 rasters.

The cell values of the offshore area of the SRTM (ie where cellvalue = 0 or nodata) were replaced with those of the 90m bathymety data to create a seamless mosiac of SRTM elevations on land and bathymetry elevations offshore.

This was then clipped to the GW modelling domain and the raster exported as an xyz acii file.
