    On March 19, 2020, the hotel occupancy rate in Colombia fell to 14.9 percent, 50 percentage points less than the occupancy recorded on the same day in 2019. This drop in hotel occupancy was associated to the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The Colombian lodging industry also saw a decline in bookings as COVID-19 cases started to spread in the country.
