Vital statistics for births, fetal deaths, and birth/infant deaths may be obtained directly from SCHS by submitting a request to SCHS.Info@dhhs.nc.gov This study focuses on deaths in North Carolina in 2015. Death is defined as the permanent disappearance of any evidence of life at any time after live birth. This definition excludes fetal deaths. The data kept for deaths includes the age, race, marital status, and sex of the individual; date, time, cause and location of death; and mode of burial. Minor changes to the files beginning in 2014 reflect the release of an updated NC Death Certificate form in that year.
