    Description

This layer displays spot elevations for Tallahassee and Leon County Florida. Spot elevations display the actual elevation of a selected point on the ground. The features displayed in this layer depict ground conditions at the time the source lidar was acquired. The source DEM used to derive this layer is a LIDAR Digital Elevation Model (DEM) that was generated from 2020 Hurricane Michael LiDAR data. The LiDAR data was acquired by a Riegl CQ-1560i LiDAR system on January 7, 2020. This acquisition was part of a USGS flyover of areas affected by Hurricane Michael, including Leon County. TLCGIS contracted Dewberry Engineers to process the lidar results for Leon County. The source DEM is derived from classified LiDAR ground points and breaklines. The DEM has a 2.5 ft grid structure.

    Description

This layer displays spot elevations for Tallahassee and Leon County Florida. Spot elevations display the actual elevation of a selected point on the ground. The features displayed in this layer depict ground conditions at the time the source imagery was acquired. Two source imagery sets were used to compile the features in this layer. The imagery sets were acquired during two discrete missions during 1988 and 1991. The precise dates of theses flights are not available. The Basemap 8891 Project:Basemap8891 is a compendium of two different dates of planimetric and topographic data that formed the first aerial-compiled basemap for Tallahassee-Leon GIS. In 1988, the City of Tallahassee Stormwater division commissioned stereo aerial photography covering 100 square miles (the City of Tallahassee limits and surrounding area). The planimetric data compiled using an analytical stereo plotter. Likewise, the contours were hand-traced from the stereo imagery and the spot elevations were hand placed using the stereo imagery. Orthoimagery was not produced from this imagery. The planimetric and topographic data was delivered by PLSS Section in dwg CAD files. In 1991, Leon County commissioned a countywide flight with similar product deliverables for the unincorporated portion of Leon County. The 1988 data and the 1991 data was merged together to create the first basemap for the Tallahassee-Leon County community. The base scale of both flights is 1:1200.
