The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries. The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. Description

A Geographic Information System (GIS) shapefile and summary tables of the extent of irrigated agricultural land-use are provided for eleven counties fully or partially within the St. Johns River Water Management District (full-county extents of: Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, and Volusia counties). These files were compiled through a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Agricultural Water Policy. Information provided in the shapefile includes the location of irrigated lands that were verified during field surveying that started in November 2022 and concluded in August 2023. Field data collected were crop type, irrigation system type, and primary water source used. A map image of the shapefile is also provided. Previously published estimates of irrigation acreage for years since 1987 are included in summary tables.

    Description

Abstract: Brownfields are defined by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) as abandoned, idled, or underused industrial and commercial facilities where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination. The primary goals of Florida's Brownfields Redevelopment Act (Ch. 97-277, Laws of Florida, codified at ss. 376.77-.85, F.S.) are to reduce health and environmental hazards on existing commercial and industrial sites that are abandoned or underused due to these hazards and create financial and regulatory incentives to encourage redevelopment and voluntary cleanup of contaminated properties. A 'brownfield area' means a contiguous area of one or more brownfield sites, some of which may not be contaminated, that has been designated as such by a local government resolution. Such areas may include all or portions of community redevelopment areas, enterprise zones, empowerment zones, other such designated economically deprived communities and areas, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) designated brownfield pilot projects. This layer provides a polygon representation of the boundaries of these designated Brownfield Areas in Volusia County. The data presented here is an extract of the the FDEP statewide Brownfield Areas shapefile and contains only areas within Volusia County.Purpose: Brownfields data is provided to assist in the determination of areas with potential for economic revitalization.Accuracy: This layer provides a polygon representation of the boundaries of designated Brownfield Areas within Florida where a resolution has been passed by a local municipality. These polygons were created using various methodologies for creating digital spatial data depending upon the type of information provided by the municipality within the resolution and loosely dependent upon the cadastral (parcel) boundaries provided by the County Property Appraisers at the time when the spatial boundaries were developed. Since the data quality of the cadastral layer varies from county to county, the data quality of the brownfield area polygons will also vary. These methodologies include the following list: Coordinate Geometry (COGO) created from legal descriptions of the area specified in the resolution. Many of the brownfields include a large area with hundreds of property parcels. These boundaries were compared with the most recent cadastral boundaries available from the County Property Appraiser and spatially adjusted where necessary to clearly include the property parcels marked for redevelopment, the roadway right of way areas (where applicable), city boundaries, political boundaries, and other economic incentive zones. Shapefiles, Coverages and CADD files of the area were provided by the local municipality or planning and development agencies in some cases. These shapefiles were used without modification to the geometry to match cadastral boundaries. Coverages and CADD files were converted to a format compatible with the process software. Paper Maps showing the scaled boundaries of the area in relation to property parcels, geographic landmarks, and land surveys are sometimes included in the resolution. These maps are compared to available GIS boundaries in order to locate the specific property parcels referenced. The available cadastral boundaries are used to represent the area where only paper maps or parcel folio numbers are provided. All inquiries concerning this data should be directed to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) OTIS/GIS Section. Description

The raster is created from the finalized contour lines for September 2016, An estimated zero contour line is placed along the coast from Bay County to Pinellas County and along Volusia County. This contour aids in making a more reasonable surface along the coast, since water level vaues are less than the 10 foot contour interval shown on the contour map (see potentiometric contour map). Using the Topo to Raster tool, a 500 X 500 meter grid is created by using the September 2016 contour lines, the estimated zero contour line, estimated water value points along the suwannee river and the September 2015 water level data. The interpolated elevation value in each cell is in feet mean sea level, datum NGVD29. Please reference the metadata for contact information.

About this AppThe Drought Aware app provides information about areas in the U.S. affected by drought across different time intervals and over multiple drought intensities. The app shows summaries about the affected population and the potential impacts to crops, agricultural labor, rivers, and reservoirs.Use this AppDisplay drought maps for different weeks by clicking on the time-series chart (top bar) or by scrolling through time using the sector chart (top-left). Hover on each drought intensity level in the sector chart to highlight the areas on the map and display the area percentage. Click on the map to display a panel with summary information for the selected area. The panel includes three categories (1) population, (2) water, and (3) agriculture. App CategoriesThe Drought Aware app summarizes information in three categories:Population: displays the estimated people and households affected by drought at each intensity level, describes some of the vulnerable populations, and lists the related drought risk indexes. The data is available at County and State levels. Water: depicts the major local rivers, the average inter-annual river flow, and the relevant local reservoirs. The data is available at the Subregion Hydrologic Units (HUC4)Agriculture: shows the potential economic impact by major crop, the affected labor, and the agricultural exposure to droughts. The data is available at County and State levels. Drought Definitions Abnormally Dry (D0) Going into drought there is short-term dryness slowing planting, growth of crops or pastures. Coming out of drought there are some lingering water deficits; pastures or crops not fully recovered. Moderate Drought (D1) Some damage to crops and pastures. Streams, reservoirs, or wells low, some water shortages developing or imminent. Voluntary water-use restrictions requested. Severe Drought (D2) Crop or pasture losses likely. Water shortages are common. Water restrictions imposed. Extreme Drought (D3) Major crop/pasture losses. Widespread water shortages or restrictions. Exceptional Drought (D4) Exceptional and widespread crop/pasture losses. Shortages of water in reservoirs, streams, and wells create water emergencies.Data SourcesThe data layers used in this app can be found in ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World:U.S. Drought Monitor American Community Survey (ACS)USDA Census of AgricultureFEMA National Risk IndexNational Water Model (NWM)National Hydrography Dataset (NHD)National Inventory of Dams (NID)National Boundary Dataset (WBD)UpdateThe data behind the app is updated every week once a U.S. Drought Monitor map is released. The update process is automated using a live feed routine. This layer is provided for informational purposes and is not monitored 24/7 for accuracy and currency.
