    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the Wake Forest population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of Wake Forest across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

    Key observations

In 2023, the population of Wake Forest was 54,337, a 3.53% increase year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, Wake Forest population was 52,485, an increase of 2.58% compared to a population of 51,167 in 2021. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2023, population of Wake Forest increased by 41,279. In this period, the peak population was 54,337 in the year 2023. The numbers suggest that the population has not reached its peak yet and is showing a trend of further growth. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates Program (PEP).

The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Face refers to the areal (polygon) topological primitives that make up MTDB. A face is bounded by one or more edges; its boundary includes only the edges that separate it from other faces, not any interior edges contained within the area of the face. The Topological Faces Shapefile contains the attributes of each topological primitive face. Each face has a unique topological face identifier (TFID) value. Each face in the shapefile includes the key geographic area codes for all geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates data for both the 2020 Census and the annual estimates and surveys. The geometries of each of these geographic areas can then be built by dissolving the face geometries on the appropriate key geographic area codes in the Topological Faces Shapefile.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the data for the Wake Forest, NC population pyramid, which represents the Wake Forest population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups. Higher numbers at the bottom of the table suggest population growth, whereas higher numbers at the top indicate declining birth rates. Furthermore, the dataset can be utilized to understand the youth dependency ratio, old-age dependency ratio, total dependency ratio, and potential support ratio.

    Key observations

    • Youth dependency ratio, which is the number of children aged 0-14 per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Wake Forest, NC, is 33.6.
    • Old-age dependency ratio, which is the number of persons aged 65 or over per 100 persons aged 15-64, for Wake Forest, NC, is 20.7.
    • Total dependency ratio for Wake Forest, NC is 54.2.
    • Potential support ratio, which is the number of youth (working age population) per elderly, for Wake Forest, NC is 4.8.

In 2022, the population of Wake Forest was 51,113, a 2.43% increase year-by-year from 2021. Previously, in 2021, Wake Forest population was 49,899, an increase of 3.42% compared to a population of 48,249 in 2020. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2022, population of Wake Forest increased by 38,055. In this period, the peak population was 51,113 in the year 2022.

Edge refers to the linear topological primitives that make up MTDB. The All Lines Shapefile contains linear features such as roads, railroads, and hydrography. Additional attribute data associated with the linear features found in the All Lines Shapefile are available in relationship (.dbf) files that users must download separately. The All Lines Shapefile contains the geometry and attributes of each topological primitive edge. Each edge has a unique TIGER/Line identifier (TLID) value.

The dataset covers the years 2010 to 2023, representing 14 years of data. To analyze income differences between genders (male and female), we conducted an initial data analysis and categorization. Subsequently, we adjusted these figures for inflation using the Consumer Price Index retroactive series (R-CPI-U-RS) based on current methodologies. For additional information about these estimations, please contact us via email at research@neilsberg.com

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset presents median income data over a decade or more for males and females categorized by Total, Full-Time Year-Round (FT), and Part-Time (PT) employment in Wake County. It showcases annual income, providing insights into gender-specific income distributions and the disparities between full-time and part-time work. The dataset can be utilized to gain insights into gender-based pay disparity trends and explore the variations in income for male and female individuals.

    Key observations: Insights from 2023

Based on our analysis ACS 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates, we present the following observations: - All workers, aged 15 years and older: In Wake County, the median income for all workers aged 15 years and older, regardless of work hours, was $62,216 for males and $41,813 for females.

These income figures highlight a substantial gender-based income gap in Wake County. Women, regardless of work hours, earn 67 cents for each dollar earned by men. This significant gender pay gap, approximately 33%, underscores concerning gender-based income inequality in the county of Wake County.

    - Full-time workers, aged 15 years and older: In Wake County, among full-time, year-round workers aged 15 years and older, males earned a median income of $86,441, while females earned $66,042, leading to a 24% gender pay gap among full-time workers. This illustrates that women earn 76 cents for each dollar earned by men in full-time roles. This analysis indicates a widening gender pay gap, showing a substantial income disparity where women, despite working full-time, face a more significant wage discrepancy compared to men in the same roles.

Surprisingly, the gender pay gap percentage was higher across all roles, including non-full-time employment, for women compared to men. This suggests that full-time employment offers a more equitable income scenario for women compared to other employment patterns in Wake County.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. All incomes have been adjusting for inflation and are presented in 2023-inflation-adjusted dollars.

    Gender classifications include:

    • Male
    • Female

    Employment type classifications include:

    • Full-time, year-round: A full-time, year-round worker is a person who worked full time (35 or more hours per week) and 50 or more weeks during the previous calendar year.
