The dataset contains locations and attributes of GSA owned or leased buildings, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. A database provided by GSA identified Federal locations and DC GIS staff geo-processed the data.

Historical Data on the Buildings of Washington DC, collected over 15 years by Brian Kraft, with support from JMT Inc., for the DC Historic Preservation Office. Most of the data comes from the building permits issued by the city, especially from 1877 to 1949. Sources are named for all buildings and other sources include real estate maps, tax assessments, newspaper reports, and the DC Office of Tax and Revenue, mostly for buildings after 1949. Work on this data is ongoing but we feel that this will be a valuable and enjoyable research tool as it is.

The dataset contains locations and attributes of address alias points, created as part of the Master Address Repository (MAR) for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating DC government agencies. It contains address alias names in the District of Columbia which are typically placed on buildings. These alias names represent named features such as: - Schools - Federal Buildings - Military Installations - Hospitals - Museums - Monuments - University Structures - Fire and Police Stations - Libraries - Metro Facilities - Historical Landmarks - Recreation Centers - Mile Markers - Marinas and more. A map showing District of Columbia government related properties (owned, operated, and or managed) to be used by many DC Government agencies, private companies and the public. It supports the daily business process of District agencies that originate and manage land records. Transfers of Jurisdiction (TOJ) are also in this layer. This map should not be considered comprehensive as District agencies continuously work to update properties as transactions occur.

The public interactive online DC Office of Tax and Revenue Real Property Assessment Lot Map Search application accompanies the OTR Tax Payer Service Center and may be used to search for and view all real property, related assessment areas, assessment data, and detailed assessment information.

This map features a detailed basemap for Washington, DC, including buildings and landmarks in the District. The basemap includes coverage down to about 1:1,000 for the full District of Columbia.The map is based on data from the DC Geographic Information Systems Program (DC GIS). The mission of the DC GIS is to improve the quality and lower the cost of services provided by the DC government, through the District's collective investment and effective application of geospatial data and systems.The map is authored using the World Topographic Map Template for Large Scales. Washington, DC is one of the featured areas of the World Topographic Map. The World Topographic Map includes detailed maps for several cities and areas around the United States.

The interactive zoning map allows users to determine the zoning classification for any property in the District. Users can search zoning by specific address, square and lot, parcel, Zoning Commission (ZC) case, or Planned Unit Development (PUD), where applicable. Users can select different layers of data to display on the map, and can print reports for any selected property. Users should note that when searching for a PUD, the ZC case name and ZC case number reflect the most recent case name and case number associated with the PUD. This public interactive Real Property Assessment map application accompanies the OCFO MyTax DC and OTR websites. Use this mapping application to search for and view all real property, assessment valuation data, assessment neighborhood areas and sub-areas, detailed assessment information, and many real property valuation reports by various political and administrative areas. View by other administrative areas such as DC Wards, ANCs, DC Squares, and by specific real property characteristics such as property type and/or sale date. Building structures include parking garages, ruins, monuments, and buildings under construction along with residential, commercial, industrial, apartment, townhouses, duplexes, etc. Buildings equal to or larger than 9.29 square meters (100 square feet) are captured. Buildings are delineated around the roof line showing the building "footprint." Roof breaks and rooflines, such as between individual residences in row houses or separate spaces in office structures, are captured to partition building footprints. This includes capturing all sheds, garages, or other non-addressable buildings over 100 square feet throughout the city. Atriums, courtyards, and other “holes” in buildings created as part of demarcating the building outline are not part of the building capture. This includes construction trailers greater than 100 square feet. Memorials are delineated around a roof line showing the building "footprint."Bleachers are delineated around the base of connected sets of bleachers. Parking Garages are delineated at the perimeter of the parking garage including ramps. Parking garages sharing a common boundary with linear features must have the common segment captured once. A parking garage is only attributed as such if there is rooftop parking. Not all rooftop parking is a parking garage, however. There are structures that only have rooftop parking but serve as a business. Those are captured as buildings. Fountains are delineated around the base of fountain structures.

Large-scale shadows from buildings in a city play an important role in determining the environmental quality of public spaces. They can be both beneficial, such as for pedestrians during summer, and detrimental, by impacting vegetation and by blocking direct sunlight. Determining the effects of shadows requires the accumulation of shadows over time across different periods in a year. In our paper Shadow Accrual Maps: Efficient Accumulation of City-Scale Shadows over Time, we present a simple yet efficient class of approach that uses the properties of sun movement to track the changing position of shadows within a fixed time interval. This repository presents the computed shadow information for New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and Washington DC.

A database provided by Answers Please and The InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington identified emergency food, shelter and health care locations.

This dataset contains locations and attributes of University and College, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Information provided by OCTO, EMA, and other sources identified as University Areas and DC GIS staff geo-processed the data. This layer does not represent university areas contained in the campus plans from the DC Office of Zoning.
